Dell Outlet Precision M20s - $1150

Dell has almost 200 Precision M20s at the Outlet. Most are either $1150 or $1200.

All have 2.13Ghz, 1GB RAM, 60GB/7200rpm HD, SXGA+, 8X DVD+/-RW, floppy drive, and software CDs. None have modems or wireless cards.

These spec out on the Small Business site at around $2243 - so the discount is about 49%.

This seems like a damn good price for a 7200rpm drive, 1gb ram, and 2.13 P-M. Any downsides? Other than being refurbed? How does the FireGL perform in today's games?

Don't know how they would do with games. Probably not real great.

One downside is the lack of a wireless adapter, but Intel cards are available for $35.

I think these M20s are all new, since they're all in the same configuration. A lrge order some company canceled? Last year I bought a D600 from the Outlet, and it seemed new/perfect.

I've ordered one of these M20s and will post a report once I get it. Odd that the price is so low - it's lower than D610 and D810 prices at the Outlet.

Those which are $1200 have second battery. Seems that this is some kind of clearance, maybe Dell is preparing for launching newer model?

I am just about to buy this machine, but obviously I was trying to look around to check wheter there are some better deals, but I didn't find any. I am a bit confused that there isn't much interest about this topic? Is this a really good deal? Can you get anything comparable for same amount of money?

Pres, can you please drop a line soon after you recived that laptop? I'd be very thankful

I just ordered one. I got the $1150 model with just one battery. Was only $19 for 3-5 day shipping and NO tax, which was nice. So $1169 total for a Pentium M 770 2.13GHz, 60GB 7200RPM drive, 1GB 533MHz RAM, dual-layer DVD burner, and 1400x1050 screen! A couple other nice things: it's got the eraser-head mouse button, the left Ctrl key is in the right place, Home/PgUp/PgDown/End are all real keys (not Fn keys), AND you get a 3yr next day on site warranty included in the price.

Will post pics and feedback when I receive it.

Forgot to say it also comes with a floppy drive AND an XP Pro license. So I can sell my retail XP Pro license on eBay since I won't need it anymore (getting rid of my desktop).

Also, they did charge me some tax. Turns out the warranty services are always contracted through a local (to the buyer) company, so the tax is charged on the warranty price. Wasn't too bad, though, $25.04 additional.

Does anyone know if you can buy the Dell Bluetooth 350 module direct from Dell? And where is the best/cheapest/low shipping cost place to order an Atheros b/g mini-pci card?

Eh, guess I'm just biased... but seems like you could get more for your money (well if the moons are aligned and you have the right dell coupon) with an i6000
post #9 of 53
Maybe if the moons were aligned. And they may never have 45% off coupons again. But getting all the same upgrades on an i6000 is not cheap. Plus the i6000 would be bigger and heavier. And they charge tax on the whole order in my state for orders from the Dell Home store, which adds $100+ to the price.

How long do you think this $250 off saving is to be valid? On Dell Outlet site they say it is limited time offer, but they don't say up to when? I want to delay my order a bit to check the first reports from those who have already ordered one of these.
I have no idea how long that promo lasts. I'm sure you could call them and ask.

You may be waiting 1-2 weeks, as the estimated ship date for mine is 9/28.

The 6000 would be more expensive with those upgrades. It would be bigger, heavier, and uglier. It would also not have as good build quality.

Or maybe not! Just checked my order status and it has already shipped (less than 12 hours after I ordered!). With any luck, I'll receive it Thurs. or Fri.!

OK, I was chatting with Dell representative who said that they don't know up to when is that promotion supposed to be available, but usually such promotions end at wednesdays 11:59 CST. Means That I have some time left.

Other thing is that I am worried about international service - I was told that there is no such support for laptops bought from dell outlet. Is that true?

I was going to transfer my warranty to Poland after buing, but now I am affraid that I could be not able to do that..

jboehle,

Where can I see that the 3 year warranty is included in the outlet price shown on the inventory screen? I see where they are offering a discount to upgrade from standard 1 yr. Just like to know as this may be enough for me to finally pull the trigger on one.

Thanks and peace,

Geo

Check the box next to the machine you have selected and Add To Cart. The next screen makes you pick the warranty you want and also allows you to pick some other accessories you may want to add to your order. The default warranty choice is 3 yr. Ltd. warranty next day on site.
