Power and Battery LEDs stay on

...all the time. Even when unplugged. Tonight my 9860 just shut down. The battery was VERY hot. No LEDs, unfortunately it seems both my batteries (bought a spare) seem 'fried'.

Anyone else ever have this?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

p.s. bought it from PCTorque in Jan of 1005. It's been GREAT 'till now.

update. Tech support got right back to me. RMA here we go...

Might as well upgrade to an Ultra while I'm at it.

Mine did exactly the same thing. The next time I tried to turn it on after the "lights on" issue it started to boot then "boom" it was as dead as a Dodo. It turns out that it was the motherboard that was fried (I had smelt a burning smell previously as well).

The good news is that I RMA'd it to Sager that day and they sent it back within three days all working as good as new. Most impressed with Sager support - no fuss, no questions, just replace and return - awsome!

Same here. No problems with Tech Support, fast service too. While it was there I had them put a 6800 Ultra in as well. very cool.

I had the 9860 for only 4 months when i started having the LEDs on when unplugged issue. It lasted 4 days then literally went up in smoke while using it one night. Had a burning smell since the day the lights got stuck on.

I had a 9860 the board gave issues with not having led go off when unplugged it always acted like on AC power charging even when on battery. It died. They replaced it with 9890 with new video card it broke. again they are modifying card now and sending back. I personally have had a hard time with tech support. I tried to get the video to work before sending back so they are saying I killed the card. Built desktops for years and I try to fix one broke notebook video card but adding some silver compound and Im blamed for destroying it and will not replace now. Funny thing is they told me in an email cant refund or replace but they can fix it so I will probably get some sager modded card in it that will break again in a few months.

Im selling my sager when I get it back. If it turns on and works then Im gettin rid of it.

Anyone want a Sager 9890 with Geforce 7900 GTX 512MB
1 gig of ram
120 gig hard drives two 60's in a raid
all the blue tooth , tv card, wifi web cam
17" 1680x1050 screen.

Only issue would be 3 always on pixels on screen which were there since I bought it.
