Yeah I just got outta LIVE chat w' both eMachine & Gateway, and they say, as long as you know what your doing, and nothing get broken, then NO it won't affect the warranty, but, if you send it in you need the same HD, and the same Memory that it shiipped with? strange why they would say that? as for the upgrades I already did.......the 7200rmp vrs. the 4200rpm HD I did notice a huge difference there, also the Windows XP Pro I noticed a difference too in preformance

And BTW, the HDD upgrade will in no way possible hurt the warranty, I just would not want them to steal it. But opening it up to do the ram you run the risk of physically ruining the motherboard, so as long as you are careful, there will be no problems.

Ok here is where I think everyone gets confused about eMachines & Gateway
They did the same thing Compaq & HP did, they still make PC's under each name
and they still have 2 different websties, but, they are Now the same OEM I found this out today in LIVE chat with both of them, emachines & gateway will help you with support problems on both websites..........seems strange tho, cuz HP/Compaq only has one webstie, that I know of, maybe they will consolidate both websties like HP/Compaq did. guess we all will have to wait and see?

If this is true, it is good--an indication that the two separate parts are finally evolving into one company. For an awful long time (the last two years, really), emachines and Gateway were totally oblivious to each other's product.
