presario 2170us Hard drive question

Thread Starter
I just picked up a ToshibaMK8026GAX hard drive for my presario 2170us notbook and it seem's the hard drive is not being detected by the BIOS. The original hard drive was a 4,200rpm. this new one is a 5,400rpm. I was hoping someone could tell me if the hard drive is compatable even though it's 5,400rpm, and if it is'nt can I do anything to upgrade my notebook to accept it.

Thanx Sesshomaru

1) Make sure your BIOS is up to date... Sometimes it fixes hardware compatibility problems...
2) Are you sure this new disk is a good one?

What was the model of the old disk??

The hard drive that came with the notebook was a Hitachi Travelstar IC25N040ATMR04-0 40 GIG 4,200 RPM.

Thank you for your help, sesshomaru

Okay i see no reason this new disk wouldnt work other than the fact it has 16MB cache... Which its possible thats why it doesnt work in this system. You can try to update the BIOS as i said before to try to get it to work... Also can you test it in another system?
