yes people... i couldnt believe my eyes when what should i see on the AW site but them selling the 5500 again in refurb. it was gone for so long but now for some reason or other it is back being sold.

personally i think they are trying to get rid of the excess stock of parts for them before bringing out the new line which has to be coming to replace it. clearing room in the warehouse...

anyways... linkage:

they are insane for even trying to that amount of money for that laptop, its way out of date. its goin on 3 years old i think....ah.. i dunno about alienware sometimes....12 or 1300 sounds reasonable considering all of the new technology that is out, and because its used....

If Alienware is trying to get rid of excess parts they can just give some of them to me...

They aren't used... just a minor bump or scratch. My Bro's first alienware was a recertified Sentia... he got $300 off because on the left side of the laptop their was a 2-3 milimeter scuff... It goes against AW policy to sell that laptop 'new'. They could but they don't... Recertified doesn't mean refurbish... They aren't selling you a laptop that was used then damaged in shipping or anything else, just durring the first assembly (before the customization, when they send the cases to the manufacturing assembly, the CASE gets a MINOR scuff or bump... i checked it out and the worst i heard about was a 5 milimiter scratc... nice for $300 less). Oh and durring the 'accident' their is NO component in the laptop, and if their is, they are AUTOMATICLY replaced. So basicaly, you gwet $300 less for something thats gonna happen one way or another, etheir by them or you when you accidently drop something on the laptop or your mug gets nock around on your desk and scuff the the laptop. When you buy a refurbish laptop, it has been used then sent back, it's what you get when you buy on those fishy extremly cheap computer websites AW recertified laptops were NEVER used or shipped to someone, they are brand new with a small scuff or bump

RECERTIFIED AW LAPTOP:
*Same testing and inspection process as all Alienware systems.
*Same elite performance and reliability standards as all Alienware systems.
*10% Instant Savings on Area-51m 5500 and a $300 Rebate on Sentia and Area-51m 7700 Systems.
*Imperfections are strictly cosmetic, consisting of a minor scratch or dent on the exterior.
