They aren't used... just a minor bump or scratch. My Bro's first alienware was a recertified Sentia... he got $300 off because on the left side of the laptop their was a 2-3 milimeter scuff... It goes against AW policy to sell that laptop 'new'. They could but they don't... Recertified doesn't mean refurbish... They aren't selling you a laptop that was used then damaged in shipping or anything else, just durring the first assembly (before the customization, when they send the cases to the manufacturing assembly, the CASE gets a MINOR scuff or bump... i checked it out and the worst i heard about was a 5 milimiter scratc... nice for $300 less). Oh and durring the 'accident' their is NO component in the laptop, and if their is, they are AUTOMATICLY replaced. So basicaly, you gwet $300 less for something thats gonna happen one way or another, etheir by them or you when you accidently drop something on the laptop or your mug gets nock around on your desk and scuff the the laptop. When you buy a refurbish laptop, it has been used then sent back, it's what you get when you buy on those fishy extremly cheap computer websites

AW recertified laptops were NEVER used or shipped to someone, they are brand new with a small scuff or bump
