9880 Nvidia 6800 Ultra NOT working anymore!!video card extreamly artifacting!

Ok i had to put this for the public so that if any experiences similarties plz share.

I bought my 9880 in june 1st, opened it 20th. Now I was extremely pleased with the system and i gave it about 2 days just surfing and light work so that not to stress it suddenly ( just a precaution ), and then ww\en time of gaming came, i installed half life 2 and it ran WONDERFUL AT FULL DETAILS.

A week or less with that experince the game began freezing, hiccups and then shutdown without any blue screen. I thout it was heat coz it was my first lappy that gets this freakin hot at bottom left,so i said less details=less stress on video card=less heat. And lowring the details helped me get about 2 hours of gaming and then freezes at that point.I got sick of that game doing that so i installed UT2004(i didnt play it for 2hours but i think it ran better than HL2),then Worms forts under siege (not for me, for ma lil bro )which was extremely freezing about after 30 min and so i uninstalled it. I installed a couple of more games and they at least freezed once, and even a couple of times there were sometimes that caused ARTIFACTING to happen after shutdown !! 3 times to be exact and they were about every 10 days or so.I was going yellow weni saw this happening ! freakin da sht out of me!3rd time i turned the machine on and off 10 times to get the artifacting go !!!!

Before about 10 days from i used to play battlefield, but AGAIN not at Highest details coz it freakin freezes(i chose medium AND I never used AA or AF IN ANY OF GAMES INSTALLED). But now this time, i put it on highest detail with AA 2.I had to shut it down 2 times after about 20 min of playin and then after that i begfan seeing artifacting( lines and squares of different colors distorted) in windows.Scared me so i turned the unit down.I think next day(or 2days) i played BF2(it was still highest details) and now it froze with artifacting showing as it froze (this happened a couple of times now),Now the interesting part comes where artifacting never goes!!! what the Fxxx !It's everywhere even in bios.I put a windows backup, never went away.

I didnt think playing at medium details on games would affect me,i started searching about the problem reading in the forums here that ppl actually play games on highest details with no problems !! I was mad pissed i got a faulty video card.

I am here (outside USA) with a video card that is not working. The thing is that i dnt want to send it to USA (although i have international warranty) coz if it is sent from there to here im gona pay at least 500$ VAT(my hp presario was once delayed in service so they shipped it here and guess wt,i payed added tax and i think it'll happen with the 9880).
After making ten calls internationally (pain and money) Warrantech seems to make it more difficult for me to fix it because of first year sager warranty.
I dnt think tech support will help my situation ,but i did call 2day pctorque in hope to do smth.

Just to add ... i never had it overclocked. All stock with the updated drivers, firmaware etc.

Anyone had similar problem ?
could be not the video card !! hope not
Could any1 Give me the BIOS FLASH of their ultra card,a .rom file from nibitir(or wtever program to obtain the .rom). Reflashing it might help but i wanted to ask tech to give to me.

This info is from bios > system information:

Nvidia NV42m ULTRA
BIOS REVISION: V146 1.00.05B
VBIOS REVISION: 5.41.02.39.38
VBIOS BUILD DATE: 03/17/05
system memory:640KB

sorry for long post.

Make sure the cards fan is working and, see if you need to clean out the inlet and exit ports for airflow. You'd be surprised.

You're not overclocking it, are you? Check to make sure you're not.

Here's one for you: see if you actually have an Ultra card. I bought a 9880 2 months ago. SUPPOSED to have the Ultra in it.

It does not. I have the card right below it. Slower clock speed but, it has the improved Ultra memory. I've been going round and round with Sager for a week, playing phone tag, to try to get this problem resolved!!

Im sure i have the ultra, no overclock positive.Fans clean and airflow is good.

Something weird is happining. After keeping the 9880 on with the artifacting for about 5min(u cant see anything coz of artifacting),i restart the laptop(might be more than once) but then it works ! I can actually use the computer, this is second time i do it and now im using it. Maybe it's need to reheat a bit b4 i can use the 9880 :S.
I've had enough of this...it sucks

Did you check your memory modules? If you can unplug the dimm's and plug it again but be sure to put them right.Check if the dimm's are named or no named and if you have a friend with the memory which fixed in yours, try them.I don't now if the problem solved but try it.I understant you very well with your problem
but i think you find the way to solve it.I hope my help will help you.

Did you purchase the laptop with an operating system installed or did you install the operating system yourself.

If you installed the operating system yourself, did you carefully install all of the drivers in the EXACT order as described in the manual? If you did not install them in the correct order, they could be problematic.

Try running MEMTEST86 for about a hour and see if the screen "goes wacky" on you or if it remains OK.

What "flashing" activities have you accomplished on the machine in regards to BIOS and/or other Firmware adjustments?

I have it with the OS preinstaled from pctorque. Drivers correctly done, and i have a backup which is correctly made that i restored but still it comes and goes. I reseated the ULTRA a couple of times and it seems it's working now ?! mmm i can't say it's gone coz i know that artifacting will come back. Is it possible that the pins of the ultra are a bit away (like a couple pins easily dislocated ?).

I have newest BIOS version for the 9880.But the VBIOS (ultra bios) is same since purchase. Nth of much info to add, coz there werent any new firmares/bios lately.

I heard on the dell forum they flash the ultra bios(only way to overclock a dell ultra), but i was wondering if i can do that for the 9880 to like renew the VBIOS to eliminate any possible damage/misreading/etc ?
