I am not anti Google. I use their search engine. I believe the toolbar is spyware. But, like you said, whatever floats your boat. I have not seen it cause a problem either.

Its not their job to tell you something you should know. And having 3 anti spyware programs on is a waste..

Have to agree with you on this one, we should not have to pay extra for warranties and product support certainly not at the prices they are asking.

Let's say you pay $20,000.00 for a new car and someone hits and runs your car in the parking lot of the grocery store the first night you get it home. Do you feel the dealership or car manufacturer should repair the dent for free just because you paid a lot of money for the car and you didn't think it was fair you should have to pay more for insurance after paying so much for the car? Software support is not covered under most hardware warranties. If you are not a computer expert and don't have a friend or relative that is, you will have to pay extra for software support. $239.00 is not that much money for unlimited support for three years.

for one thing, no dell shouldnt have helped you out with a software problem.
the google toolbar, DOES NOT INSTALL on its OWN, and isnt bundled with anything. YOU or SOMEONE ELSE installed it. period.
and incase my opinion just happens to matter to anyone, no i dont consider it sypware, because it doesent install on its own, its easily removed, and it ASKS you during the install if you are ok with what its reporting! The google toolbar is a GREAT tool for internet explorer, and if you dont want any "spying" going on, then you just say so during the install and have it turn off advanced features.

Hey acr2001...I can tell you with 100% certainty that neither I or anyone else installed the GOOGLE TOOLBAR. I also spoke to 2 friends and voila....they have the toolbar too!!!
does anyone else know of the google toolbar installing itself as jerry says it did?

If its true, than this is something new because the google toolbar never did that, and i really doubt google would do that.

Hey acr2001... what I think is happening is a dispute is going on between MICRS and AOL (THEY MAY MERGE) and what is holding it up is Micros wants AOL to give up using GOOGLE AS search tool. I have aol. So maybe Micros is placing this toolbar on PCs....who knows. This has all been in the news. What do u think??
thnx

Of course i declined after threatening to bad mouth Dell to all my friends.
The resolution to my problem came from Microsoft(at $35 fee)......The GOOGLE TOOL BAR had to be deleted from my PC which prevented me from accessing EXPLORER.
Anyone ever hear of this problem??

your joking right? This is a JOKE... hahhaha I get it.

Google Toolbar is bundled with Winzip and other software such as RealPlayer. It has an opt out option, but it is installed by default.

I deliberately installed the google toolbar on my pc and have never had any problems assocated with having it installed.

first off, thanks for that tjoseph, i didnt realize that.
joatmon - yes ditto on that one.
jerrybythesea- man, AOL decided that they wanted to allow people to bid to buy out their search functions, and microsoft declined. Its COMPLETELY unrelated to your issue, and i have to admit, it did cause me to laugh. Im not trying to be nasty or anything, but theres NO WAY man.

HI

Hate repeating myself...but I DID pay microsoft to solve my problem of accessing internet explorer and the said Google toolbar (SPYWARE-YES) was the problem!! They told me to delete it and I did. No more problems. The technician knew that the toolbar WAS THE PROBLEM because she told me that I was the 3rd person that evening with the same problem.
Just upset that a 5 sec solution set me back $35.

And I heven't installed any new software in last 6 months!!! And I still think AOL may have installed it to interfere with microsoft's software. ANd I don't find ANY HUMORE in it ACR 2001.
