The Google Toolbar is not spyware.

sorry jerry, i tried to be nice, but man your just computer illiterate.
mods - i suggest closing this thread before it turns into a flame war...
google toolbar -not sypware

google toolbar was causing a problem with your specific computer because something else was incorrectly set up - google toolbars uninstall correcting the problem was probably just a lucky fix.

how can you think "aol installed it to interfere with microsofts software"? do you think these people actually sit there watching YOUR computer and doing things like that? none of the big companies do things like that. there are no gremlins inside your computer.

Hey acr---I do admit that I am not too advanced w/computers(but not PC illiterate), but it is hard to believe that the Micros technician just got lucky with telling me to delete the toolbar, especially when she told me others had this identical problem. Why would she lie?
Just strange how the toolbar got on my PC .

This whole thread is just simply USER error on software installation or non technical skills needed for basic software use/installation. Dont kill the guy, he is learning. However it is NOT Dells fault here.

you probably installed some software of some sort and the google bar was piggy backed on that software, this happens often with freeware/shareware and if you click "okay" it doesnt matter how much anti spyware you have.

ALSO, you have to run spyware frequently, every couple of days to get rid of the stuff, you dont just install it one day and POOF, no more spyware, you have to constantly update the anti spyware software and use it regularly.

Of course i declined after threatening to bad mouth Dell to all my friends.
The resolution to my problem came from Microsoft(at $35 fee)......The GOOGLE TOOL BAR had to be deleted from my PC which prevented me from accessing EXPLORER.
Anyone ever hear of this problem??
LOL... Thanks for taking dell support time away from people with real problems.

You can get this toolbar AUTOMATICALLY installed by various sites and or programs you install.

When installing a program/game I always use the CUSTOM option if available. This lists what is actually being installed. You wouldn't believe half the stuff that some programs will install from TYPICAL install. Educate yourself - read the EULA and install with an open-eye...
