Toshiba Config Free

Hi all,

Dell owner here with a question about the Configfree program from Toshiba. I have a couple of friends that have the M60 and they use this program to find wireless networks. It's a pretty cool interface and I'm wondering if I would be able to use the same program on my XPS2. Any one know if this is possible??

Thanks

Nope...the program is not available for non-toshiba machines. Even if you got a download, I believe the program checks the BIOS to indicate a Toshiba machine.

It's weird, I turned all that crap off at first, but now I'm interested in this program.

I should give it a shot.

Edit: Ok, I gave it a shot... remembered how tacky it is and how I don't need it.

I just use the Windows network list, that works fine for me.

I utterly HATE a cluttered tray.

Right now, with two programs running that don't start up, I have MSN (not startup), Winamp (set to tray, no startup), the audio control, Konfabulator (for my calendar and battery utilities), and McAfee (Scan, Firewall, etc. all in one).

Start --> Programs --> Toshiba --> Networking --> Config Free
Start --> Programs --> Toshiba --> Networking --> Search For Wireless

Windows has a much neater wireless finder that gives you a nice little list.

yeh, but u need sp2 dont u =)
i aint got one, cause it is REALLY crappy.
friend installed first day, his comp died in few mins =) (maybe it was because he installed 3 antivirus software, bit earlier that day. even tho i told him NOT to do it)
heh while i was typing i remembered how my other friend didnt have any antivirus and was on cable internet all time. when i installed antivirus on his comp, i found like 40 kinds, trojans keyloggers, anything. it could have been more, but his windows completely died. i got in trouble for "killing" his comp -.-
i was gonna fix it but he kicked me out from da house.
learned good lesson

whats wrong with sp2 works fine on my computer, and if it doesnt its probably not sp2's fault, somethings wrong with your friends config.

I agree, I have had SP2 on this unit for over a year. I also had it on my previous Tosh and never had any problems with it. If your machine is "clean" before you try and install, no probs. If its full of spyware and other junk, big time probs.
