What's out there to be able to do this? I just ordered a 9300 and one of my goals was to be able to use MCE on it and record HDTV shows through it.

You need a MCE-compatible video capture card on your 9300. And you need a digital set-top box.

i wouln't record it on a laptop, the HDD simply isnt fast enough, if you have to transcode what you recorded into like dvd format or something else you definatly need 2 HDD's a cheap desktop is far superior in HDD performance.

I'd be surprised if you could record anything off your box. Most of 'em use NAGRA2 encryption and as far as I know, that hasn't been broken yet. Unless you live in an area where they don't bother encrypting the HD signal (more so in Canada), you'd only be able to capture the OTA channels like CBS, NBC, ABC, ect. I think here in Charlotte even those channels are encrypted.

Vgear Pocket HDTV and a HD at least 5400 plus good memory and at least 512k - works fine for me.
