okay its not that hard to change the name of a computer, just go into the registry and find the correct entry and rename the computer. I could name my 9300 "flaming piece of crap", but I won't cause its not

Personally... I think it can be done. Might not work with the 9300 bios flash, but with a new xps2 bios that supports the new card... then you'll need the 130w/9-cell.
Why? The 7800 Go GTX is supposed to have the same TDP as the 6800 Go, so it shouldn't require the 130W AC adaptor... right?
Sorry about that, should have been more clear... I thought I read something about a 9300 guy who flashed his with the xps2 bios, and it wouldn't boot w/o having a 9-cell and 130w power supply.

So if the 9300 bios doesn't support the card, but the xps2 bios does, then you'll need the xps2 components.

I'm not too worried about it anyway...

LMAO... more like comparing a BLACK Mercedes WITH FLURO TUBES STRAPPED TO ITS GUTS to a WHITE Mercedes WITHOUT fluro tubes strapped to its guts...

what makes the xps2 so radically stylish over the 9300? the black bezel around the lcd? the bit of crap stuck to the lid? or maybe the ufo landing lights? oooohh what a work of art... lol
SWEET! I arrive to my jobs in style yo!
This mofokin rizide came with its pimp ass 2 window A/C and the bumpin sing-to-yourself system!

Heh... i'm just playin with ya

yea, I know what you mean. I personally think that the 9300 looks better then the xps2. I like the silver/white look of the 9300 better then the black look of the xps2.

Lets try to avoid the 9300 vs. XPS 2 debate.

Each respective owner will prefer his or her machine to the other.

It's amazing how a simple thing as a GPU upgrade has ignited flames within this community.

Either way you look at it ... we are all proud Dell owners.

Why would someone with an Ultra upgrade to the 7800 for $400 when your performance increase is 20%? Unless there is a 7800 Ultra that doubles my performance I don't see the point of dropping this much money for such minimal performance gain, but it could be worse it sounds like AW is charging $700 for a 6800 Ultra upgrade.

Because games that avergae 35fps at 1920x1200 will play 20% faster with a new card at that same resolution

The XPS2 looks like a ghetto fabulous, craptastic, generation Y, bling-bling, tricked out Honda civic, Asian version of the George Forman grill.

It’s got "I am young, impressionable and shallow" written all over it.

The only difference is a video card that only really makes a difference on the extreme side of gaming (maxed everything in FEAR) and a GIGE NIC that makes zero difference unless your entire path from host to target is GIGE……which is .05% of the time.

If the 7800 uses the same power and generates the same heat as a 6800go…..Dell will only make the 7800 NOT available to 9300 owners because it cost to much to develop and test….vs how much money they will make from people upgrading to it. Nothing more or nothing less. Dell is about making money (funny how that works) it could give a rats @ss about XPS2 owners feeling like they have the biggest set of virtual BALLS.

Sounds like you couldn't afford a 9300

Dude, black and silver vs. white and silver. Black and silver is wayyy better. Sure the XPS has lights big freaking deal. I NEVER use mine. They are stupid.

Everyone buys the computer they want either it being a 9300 or XPS. For me the way I think (I know it's stupid) If you can't have the best don't settle for less cause in the end i'll just end up saying why didn't I spend the few extra bucks and got the Ultra.

My virtual bawls are ginormous
Each to their own but it will be interesting to see what will be available. Maybe I just stink but the power of my GeForce 6800go is great (yea, I'm the guy you just headshot in UT2004). Something better would have to be like Double or Triple the framerates for me to justify the cash outlay.

That said, for hardcore gamers with XPS2's why not? It's your money and if you want the bling go for it and enjoy it...

1920x1200 res either on internal or on the 24" lcd, both are extremely good reasons to have a 7800 Go. Run that res on 2x monitors both of the above, and you can bring even this card to its knees I'd bet. But I'll take the best I can get!

I still don't really understand why the card doesn't have more pixle pipes.
this xps2 v. 9300 flame wars is getting kinda old... Oh well, guess this is what happens when you cant flame the aliens anymore... we turn on each other.... seriously though...... if dell wont offer the damn thing for 9300 .. people can just mod their laptops out of spite....... and i guarantee you ... Ill be one of those muthaf****n idiots who will !! no matter how much it'll cost BWAHAHAHAHAHAA

They cant offer the 7800 for the 9300, it uses the same power as the ultra. According to luke over on the sager board, there 9880's will need the same motherboard upgrade that is required for the 6800 ultras. So 9300 owners will need to do what is needed to put in a 6800 ulta to get a 7800 in there, which would cost money, and of course you would need to contend with the extra heat.
