so, will this work with my i700m?

That would be sweet

i think the reason why dell made the xps2 was because they dont think very highly of gamers. they think that all they care about are the aluminum plate and hte LED's and hte black stuff on the side or w/e. the 9300 is the enthusiasts laptop which is the one that a lot of people on this site get.

When you bought your xps2, you pretty muh just bought a bunch of LED's, a bigger battery, and a kickass sytem "out of the box." But i think that hte card will be available to both xps2 and 9300 owners(most likely through the xps2 parts site) with a little hacking of course. However, i think that the upgrade price will be huge so it miht not be that big of a deal anyway.

I still dont have a lappy yet. im pretty pissed they got rid of the coupons though, i was waiting for the 7800go and now there is no way i can afford one. a decked out 9300 with a 7800(if they even offer it on new systems) will be at least $2k unless they bring them back.

Its not locked, just not supported with the 9300 bios. Just like when a user put a 6800 go ultra in his 9300, it worked but wasnt running at full power since the bios didnt knowwhat it was.

no XPS m170 = XPS m170. Its Dell's new XPS I'm guessing.
I mean this isn't even official. Go to nvidia.com there is no mention of any of this. I won't believe it until nvidia announces it themselves not some website that I've never heard of, there isn't any copyright info on any of those slides. In fact it looks like a photoshop to me.

The website owner is wizzard from hardforums. He basically created the 9500-9700 softmod and is a pretty well respected person on hardforums.

but I do agree, some of those look photoshopped. I guess we will have to wait and see

The flaming here... fire...is amazing... I'm at home... LOL....

Seriously,

All you 9300 owners who want the 7800 Go GTX - go get it.
All you XPS 2 owners who want the 7800 Go GTX - go get it.

LOL... No need to argue over whether it will work or not - install it and find out - let us other grown ups know...

No description of the ultra version so we'll see. Maybe the Oct rumours for Dell and ultra were true, who knows. Anyway, standard version available on launch day Sep 29th.

Have fun!
$02

Oh GHEEEZ OH PETES HERE WE GO AGAIN. Look folks, you cannot get a 7800 card for your 9300 or XPS UNTIL.........dell makes one for these systems, just because nvidia announces them does NOT mean you can just go out and buy one anywhere and stick it in your laptop!! Laptops are proprietary products, they DO NOT FOLLOW A STANDARDIZED FORM FACTOR like desktops do. How many freakin posts do we need floating around with rumors and gossip about a new video card huh? Dont you guys know how to read forums that already cover this topic? Use the Search function in your forum toolbar and SEARCH AND READ. This topic has been beat like a dead horse and there is no new information on it nor will there be until Dell offers a card for your laptop. UNTIL THEN CHILL OUT AND BE PATIENT.

I wouldnt rush out and buy dual core if I were you, it will be quite some time before the use of a dual core processor will be of any practical use as there is no software/hardware that is designed to take advantage of this yet. How long has Intel had hyperthreading for example, you could probably count on one hand the things that take advantage of hyperthreading and its been around for years. Dual cores at present do not offer any performance gain over their single threaded cousins. Check tomshardware and anandtech for benchmarks on these processors.

Um dell doesn't make its own video cards man.

If there are 6 different companies that will support this card there will not be 6 different board designs for the 7800.

Sometimes when im at home playing my xps gen 2 i eat those cheese scoop things. The problem I have is when im done eatting my keyboard and mouse smell like cheese. Will the 7800 fix that?
The cheese smell I mean? Because if it does then ... im buying one. Every one needs to relax!!! I love reading these posts but some of you guys must really have no lives. Or youv've been married for way too long!! Regardless as long as the 7800 doesnt get too hot and burn my lap when im sitting on the crapper. Becuse thats why i bought a xps. So I can game on the Pooper.
Thanksguys. Please relax.

As for your service tag - too chicken to know that I am right? YOU CAN SHUT THE HELL UP and stay put. Buy your card and see that it ****s up your system and when you complain to DELL about a"fried' notebook, they will cross-reference your Geforce 7800 vid card purchase and tell you 'I'm sorry sir, but that card should not be working for that model - How did you getit to work?" <-I would like to hear your explanation to them on that....
Sony I think you need to STFU.
