Charging problems

I did my monthly routine of running the battery down, now it's stuck at 0% and charging, but does not seem to be charging.

What could be causing the problem? What should I check?

Did you let the unit poweroff by itself AND THEN not use or attempt to use it on battery power by plugging it in and letting it fully charge before using it (or mostly charged)? If you continued to use it on battery power after the initial powerdown, you will "fry" the battery.

It appears as if yur battery is fried. Does it charge any when the computer is not being used; but plugged in?

I did let it power off, did NOT attempt to use it. I plugged it in to charge it with the computer off, and it apparently did not charge, because it still says "0%, charging", even after letting it sit most of the day with the computer off, but plugged in.

If the battery is indeed fried, is it a warrantyable (sp?) item?

Within the first year, I would think so. I'd give your reseller or Sager a call regarding getting an RMA. There could also be a problem with the charging ciruits on the motherboard. Hopefully, that's not the case.

Is it ok to run the 9880 (or other comp) without the battery?

Should be - Only negative thing that I can think of is that the battery normally has one of the "supporting" legs on it.

Yeah it would be nice to get just a cover for the opening. I never even use the battery and anything to lower the heat would be helpful.
