Hair? Behind Screen

Ok this is wierd. When I got my laptop I looked for dead pixels and found none (one year ago). Two days ago I saw a one pixel wide .5 inch vertical mark down the far right side of my screen. I figured I must have injured it while carrying it around and I was pissed. Earlier today it was the same size and then I moved it to another room.

Afer moving it the mark got bigger (2.5 inches) but same width, but then I noticed it shifted abut one inch to the right. Is it possible that this is a hair or something small in between my backlight and lcd? If so (and hopefully this is a fixable problem) how would i go about getting the hair(?) out?

Edit: I thumped the back of my screen (gently) and saw it move again. How do I get this thing out? I pretty sure it has to be a piece of hair or something

Is it still under warranty? If not, all I can say is that getting the screen seperated from the chassis is a pain. You need to disconnect the wifi and bluetooth antennas first, disconnect the monitor cable, remove the covers over the hinges, and take out all the screws on the top and back side of the hinges, the you can pull the monitor housing straight up off the chasis. After that I don't know about removing the screen from inside it's case. ( I have a feeling that there may be screws behind the rubber plugs in the corners) Other than that, all I can say is good luck.

Yea i bought the 4 year warrenty so I am covered. I guess the sager warrenty is out so I would have to send it in to Phillips. I was hoping that it would not be that complicated to get at the screen. I guess i'll wait till christmas break when I do not need my laptop and I'll send it in for repair. I can only assume that this hair was dropped in at the factory because there is no way for it to get in the screen.
Thanks,

hi, did you remove the hair. I'm having the same problem with the screen in my dell 9200. Any suggestions will be welcome.

I'm sorry I can't really be of any help on that. I noticed that each time I packed the laptop up and opened it up again the hair would shift. After one day of moving it the hair vanished (although i'm positive it was a hair). That happened quite a few months ago and I have not seen it since. My advise would be to close the lid and give your laptop a gnetle shake to try to force it back to the edges. Otherwise you may have to send it back if its under warrenty and get them to open it up.

This sounds like a connector cabling issue. I, too, had an intermittent vertical line. Some opening-closing the screen cleared it up for me.

Wouldn't a can of compressed air and some careful spraying in the screen borders (so that the air will hopefully get inside) help?
