Yeah man I'm so excited about this setup! The HDTV was a early x-mas gift to myself; I say early because the DLP's are suffering from a severe supply shortage and many companies are taking them off the shelves because people can't even by them due to backorders and whatnot. So I just bought it now. The TV itself is the shiznit. It's 68 pounds only! That's 10 pounds less than similar 42" plasma models! I'll take some more photos of the tv from perspective and side views as well as the back. It's only about a foot deep and has everything from coax digital audio inputs to DVI inputs. Too bad my Alienware doesn't have the elite DVI output capability like the Sagers do! Nonetheless, 1600x1200 ouput via S-VIDEO is just ridiculous. I couldn't even believe the quality when I first saw the cloned desktop on-screen! The pictures don't do it any justice at all.

As far as my display preference for playing games, I'm 50/50 split between loving graphics from a Gamecube game such as Resident Evil vs. playing PC multiplayer shooting games. However, as far as mediums though, I chose a DLP over Plasma because there is no burn-in issues or gas problems; over LCD because there is a significantly higher probability for burnt out pixels the bigger the screen size; and over regular Digital TV"s because of the size. Too bad my DLP light is going to need to be replaced in a year or so lol.

I hate to ask a dumb question I just currently got a sony 61" kp61hs30 HDTV and am getting an aream51m soon. This is my first new tv since a rca 27" tube.

Just out of curiosity how do you have the laptop running into the tv? via s-video and s-video into the tv or let me guess your tv has some sort of vga plug? and any other input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

"Just out of curiosity how do you have the laptop running into the tv?"

Even though my TV does have a PC VGA input, I chose S-VIDEO because S-VIDEO is capable of over double the resolution output. If you choose VGA you can only clone your desktop at 800x600 whereas if you choose S-VIDEO you can output all the way up to 1900x1200i

sweet to know, thanks

I had started looking around last night and found a VGA to Component convertor.

Here's the link if anyone cares

http://www.digitalconnection.com/FAQ/HDTV_4.asp

but that's cool I will try out the s-video no doubt, thanks for the info.

I would just save the money on that converter and just go via S-VIDEO out. You won't notice any significant improvements using a VGA-->Component converter versus going straight S-VIDEO to S-VIDEO.

Ok thanks a bunch, good to know.

I think my tv does upto 1080i doesn't do 720p I don't know the differenced anyways, lol. Still learning about it all like I said i'm coming from a rca tube tv, lol.

Will I still be able to get a good display with 1080i? or i'm not sure how the reso's work on the comp/hdtv any info appreciated, thanks.

You using powerstip with it also?
