WoW Overheat?

Hey guys ive been playing WoW on my xps and it seems that when the cpu is running hot for a long period of time. If i try to alt+tab out of the game to say talk on aim or something. When I alt+tab back i get this sorta light brownish fuzzy screen. Pretty much the video craped out cuz i still hear the sound so i dont think the game froze. Does anyone know what can be causing this. Im using the 77.77 xtreme G drivers from tweaks r us. They have worked great so far. Im not overheating also I8kfanGUI says im running at 65 celcius. Thanks for any help you may give.

Most likely video drivers since I do pretty much what you do yet I do not yield this odd fuzzy screen symptom. I also play on max res which might differ between us?

Im using the 80.40 drivers at laptopvideo2go

yeah i play on 1920x1200 its absolutly beautiful. This is the first instance of this and it was about 30 min ago tonight 12:41 am on sept 19 so since these drivers have been very good to me. (5430 on 3DMark05) i'm going to wait and see if the problem occurs again. I really am having trouble finding a driver that has like me . Does anyone know if it is bad for the computer if you hold down the power button to turn off the Laptop, cuz i have been forced to do that a number of times. Thanks again Guys.

Had the same problem. You can put the system into standby at this time by pressing "windows key", "U", "S". Then bring it out of standby with the power button. I switched to the 78.11 drivers and it's been working in WoW with alt+tabbing ever since.

Don't use the 80.40 drivers, as they are currently the worst driver available for World of Warcraft, causing nasty aliasing on the ground textures. Use the 78.11s available at this link.

It will happen again, unfortunately. It's only a matter of time. Might be 1 alt+tab or 10, but either way it will do it. Remember though you can recover the system without rebooting by putting it into standby and then out. The display comes back ungarbled at this time.

WoW alt-tab

I have had this happen to me, I'm using the dell drivers on my xps2, after the 1.6 patch was the first time i noticed it. I think blizzard tweaks the video stuff from time to time and it gums up stuff.

My solution has been to play in windowed mode (max settings and resolution of course), which actually works better for me as I can still set IM and other IE windows in my taskbar.

The game runs considerably slower this way. Compare your framerates by pressing CTRL+R.

Anyway, as I said, 78.11 fixes it.

Thanks everyone, knowing it was just a driver issue was my main concern. So i will switch to the recently released dell drivers. Thanks again all who posted.
