z70va locks up when switching from battery to ac and vise-versa

hey guys,

just got my z70va and it's pretty nice. i've noticed this odd problem with it though, sometimes when i hook up or take out the ac adapter, the notebook freezes. i thought it was a CHC related issue, so i got rid of that, but it still happens. Any idea?

There was another guy who had a problem like this. He had Power4Gear and CHC running at the same time. I told him to uninstall Power4Gear (not just turn off) and he was all good. Try that.

I had the EXACT same issue. It ended up being Everest. Everest has caused me a couple headaches so I just took it completly off. It also caused lock ups with my ATI catalyst control center. Which brings up a question - are there any other utils out there that monitor GPU fan speed (besides everest)?

You can try ATI Tray Tools which I use on my desktop. Awesome utility. I tried to load it on my refresh but it froze everytime. Good luck and let me know if it works for you.

ATI Tray Tools freezes up my Z70va as well. Glad to know it's not just me.

well i uninstalled chc and did not have everest running, and yet when i plugged in the adapter, it froze once again. just to give u a heads up on that

Make a partition on your harddrive. Do a clean install of Xp dual boot. Load only the base failsafe drivers from the cd provided by asus. If problem still there return to your dealer if problem gone stop messing around with hacks and volting software if you dont know the proccess of elimination and program segregation.
