High Quality LCD's

Hey, this is sort of notebook related, so here we go:

Where the hell are the high quality LCD's for PC???

I want to switch to LCD, but it seems retarded that a 17 and 19" lcd would have the same relatively low res of 1280x1024!

We have notebooks with 15.4" widescreen WSXGA pannels, or even true HD pannels, but to get anything close on PC you have to blow half a grand on a 20inch widescreen LCD!

And the worst part is, these pannels in bare form are available dirt cheap (< $100) on eBay! WTF!

Where is my high res, widescreen, cheap desktop LCD!

Actually it is easy to find a 20,1 inch Lcd Wide on ebay for about 400$
I guess most of the people are moving to lcd now , and most of people are planning on getting something 19+ so that may be why you cant find anything under that with good resolution .....

Well keep in mind a laptop is generally a lot closer to you with your hands on the keyboard, compared to a desktop where the monitor will be farther away from you. Because of that, you probably won't find high resolutions on smaller lcd monitors since it would be really hard to see. Of course, if your setup is that the monitor is really close to you, then that would need something different that whats usually available.
