Go to Office Depot. They have Z60t's in the store. They are the only Thinkpad retailer, so far.

Hummm... I have a T42 and I love it!!!. Let's see: Sturdy construction, no flex, no cracks, metal hinges (attention to this, you should always prefer this spec) magnesium alloy and carbon fibers, (I think titanium is a legend...) 14" footprint the ideal size for my taste, not too small not too large, and yes 8,5" x 11,3" screen size. Resolution and brightness, a minor flaw, can live with it. Keyboard, pointstick and pad the best in the market. Well perfomance is ok and last but not least: software update and overall support 1A. So enjoy this little jewels no matter which series G, R, X, T, Z... all are excellent!!!

And ... Merry Christmas to you all!

I like ibm for 14" notebooks, if I were to ever get a notebook that size I would prolly shoot for a thinkpad. However for 15.4", there are many other brands that would make more cost effective choices (asus, msi, sager). 17" I think dell wins hands down. All other sizes are just silly.

Thread Starter
Well after comming back to this thread after a few months (reformat lost/forgot bookmark :P) I think I will wait on the x60 come summer time and I hate widescreen laptops, they suck when using bootable linux disks.

I owned a D610 for a few days but the screen had a problem and I returned it. I then ordered an Thinkpad T43 and it is great. The D610 looked ok to me but it was much thicker and just overall more bulky than the Thinkpad. Also, the overall feel of the Thinkpad is just more pleasing. I am glad I decided to spend the extra $100 and get a Thinkpad instead.

I can only comment on the 14.1" that IBM makes, I've got a T42P....really nice.

Pentium M 2.00 Ghz
2GB RAM
14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050 max resolution)
80GB HD
24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD
IBM 802.11a/b/g wireless
Bluetooth (never had a chance to use it yet tho)

I havent seen many other companies that offer SXGA+ in their 14.1 inch models (Dell does, I think)...usually that doesn't start until their 15-15.4" product lines.

"Dude, you're getting a Thinkpad!"

I was also considering a Dell XPS M170, but its bulky size, reflective screen, and mushy keyboard didn't appeal to me for business use. And after I saw how the paint rubs off from normal use, which I believe is a manufacturing defect that Dell should be held accountable for, I'm very happy I didn't go for it.

I originally bought a dell, but after only a week, it burst into flames and then called my mother a whore. I sent it back, got an ibm, and it's been great. Thin, light, well-behaved. It's actually making me breakfast right now.

Mmm, pancakes.
