This is my 4780!! Woohoo they really are shipping! Now the wait will really drive my nutz!

One question, I chose 2-day air to Niagara Falls, NY, and the order shipped yesterday on the 26th, but the sched. delivery date is December 1, which is Monday...shouldnt it arrive tomorrow if it was 2 day air?

I suppose I can wait, but every hour that passes gets tougher and tougher!!!!

Now....no bad pixels please....

=), you should read the whole e-mail, it's goes to PCTorque first, then shipped to you, at least that's how I read it, I maybe wrong. UPS says mine should be here on Dec 5th (I had to do standard shipping, I spent most of my cash beefing up the system itself =p).

I had to return a GBA recently for dead pixels, and I hope I don't have to see another one again anytime soon!

If you are a California resident, then the laptop ships from Sager in Cali to PCTorque in Florida then ships back to you in Cali, to avoid state sales taxes. If you live anywhere but Cali, the the laptop is shipped directly from Sager to you.

As for GBA, that really sux! I've bought 2 as gifts for friends, and am kinda surprised to hear that there must be a few floating around with dead pixels.

Yeah, I had to read the email a couple times there. So, for most people it will be shipped directly to them - unless they live in California.

Looks like mine will be arriving on the 4th...crossing my fingers...

Good for you! I have been waiting for over 2 weeks since I placed my first order at PCTorque. Just hoping that they will start shipping my 4080.

*Nevously Awates* This is the first time I have bought a computer without building it part by part, or viewing it in person first. I am still sad about the 4780 not coming with dual channel ram, but if it runs as well as I hope it does, that shouldn't be an issue. Also SiS (I think thats the brand) over the Intel chipset isn't a problem with me, as long as it's as good as the Intel and works with little problems (already had issues with the video card).

However I am looking forward to recording shows with the built in tv tuner and watching them later when I'm traveling. I just don't have any time to sit down and watch tv anymore.

Ironically, me too. I've built hundreds of boxes over the years, and haven't purchased a computer pre-assembled since I was 12. So it's a big first step for me, but thanx to these forums and excellent service from PCT I am 100% confident in my purchase.

BTW, my 4780's gone from Cali to Oklahoma, currently in Philadelphia...on it's way to Buffalo....Monday's the big day!!! Can't Wait!!!!

I want a PERFECT SCREEN!!!

*sigh* I am starting to regret ording the 4780. I should have done this sooner I know, but I found out that the reason this model doesn't come with DDR*correction - dual channel* ram, is because the chipset doesn't support it, and now I'm also reading that without DDR*correction - dual channel*, the HT speed of the proccesser almost doesn't matter, on top of the problems (although small) that occured with the chipset and the gfx card, I wish I could take back my order, but I will try it first. I don't really want to return the unit to Sager since they have been SOOOO good to me, but *sigh* I don't know. If only they used the Intel chipset this would be my PERFECT machine, I love everything else about it... I would hate have to return it, not to mention the money I would waste (emptied my bank account out just to get this laptop in the first place).

*very distraught*

Errrrrrr it does come with DDR ram, it just isn't dual channel, and that will have little to no effect on the HT speed, which is something completely different

just clarifying

Ah yes, I ment to say dual channel, thank you. Well thanks you for telling me it has little to do with HT, that makes me feel better. I guess I will give it a good workout before I think about returing it, maybe that will help me pass this feeling like I did the wrong thing by buying this model.

The 8790 is the answer to your concerns. It's supposed to be released in January and has the Intel mobo that supports dual channel. It also has the Prescott chip as an option and a 256 MB ATI 9600 Pro card.

I, too, ordered a 4780, but plan to use it as a test drive for the 8790. If I'm pleased with the 4780, I'll return it and snap up an 8790. Sure, it's a minor hassle to order-return-order, but there's really no other way to get a hands-on assessment of these machines. And, the extra $30-$60 I'll lose on shipping is very well worth it to me to get the exact notebook I'll be happy with for the next few years.
