Acer ezDock - advice for US model bought for UK PC

Hi all,

After much frustration trying for the last couple of months to get hold of an ezDock for my Travelmate 8104WLMi (including "buying" one twice from UK companies that claimed they had it in stock but never delivered) I have just now bought one from CDW in the US to be shipped over to the UK.

Sitting here now, it's just dawning on me (derrr...) that it will be US spec with US power supply etc. Can anyone suggest what I will need to do to get it up and running, or will there be problems with power differences between the US and UK. Stupid question, I know, but can I just cut off the two pin US plug and wire up a UK three pin plug? I'm presuming (read hoping!) that it will be the same power ratings. Will I be able to plug in my current Travelmate power supply to the additional socket that I understand it has?

Any other problems that I might encounter?

Any input greatly appreciated!

I crawled under my desk and looked at my ezDock power supply and it handles 100-230V 50/60Hz, so there is no problem. I don't have my 8103's power supply with me right now, but you might be able to disconnect the cable from that one und use it with the ezDock's supply. If not, the plug has 3 prongs (a round ground and 2 blade ones) so while you can cut the plug off and wire on a UK one, why not invest in a travel adapter like this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...91957-2087831?

If you mean can you use your entire UK power supply with the ezDock, then the answer is I think no, Acer is really good using different barrel diameters for all of their products
