Then answer this one. How come dell didn't offer the 6800Ultra for the 9300? They EASILY could have, right? I mean Dell has everything they need to put the Ultra in the 9300, so why didn't they do it?
The had basically one machine, same MOBO, chipset, ram, CPU's (all but one), modem, Rom drives......etc. They changed out the plastic 1-2$ in china, added some xmas tree bulbs 1 to 2 cents in china, added a GIGE NIC....2-5$ in china, and a 6800Ultra with faster ram maybe $30-50 at the volume Dell would buy.......and got people like you to pay on average 700$ more. Personally I think that's brilliant on their part.
(This is where you tell me that you got the XPS cheaper than my 9300….NOT…….the cheapest super coupon, I know someone at Dell XPS2..deal is still going to be more expensive than the cheapest, super coupon, I know someone at Dell 9300…deal)
Now they take that same basic machine, sold two different ways and they probably knew two things from NVIDIA….one the new PCIE format would be upgradeable (if Dell wanted it to be) and two upgrades like the 6800-7800 usually don’t increase power since it’s the same basic GPU with a smaller die but with more pipes (vs….radical new design) they if anything decrease power requirements in most cases.
So NOW they can get upgrade money not only from the XPS group but the 9300 group as well. Again twice the money from the same basic model…..great business strategy. Its you ma’am that don’t get it….clearly.
For people like you Showgirl they are going to get you again…..especially if it’s made available for the 9300. You won’t be able to handle not having the best laptop….so you will upgrade for sure so as not to be outdone by a 9300 owner.
Riddle me this showgirl….why is it you so badly DON’T want the 9300 owners to get this upgrade????? Personally I want everyone to get it….and if I owned the XPS2 I would want the same thing.
