SUSE 9.2 Install With RAID

Thread Starter
Hi,

I recently tried to install SUSE 9.2 Pro on my Fujitsu Siemens M3438G laptop.
Problem was, it could not recognise the hard drives which are 60GB SATA drives. I think the RAID type is VIA if that makes sense.
Can anyone tell me how to get round this (I dont have floppy drive to boot off)
Alternatively, has anyone has found a distro that supports these drives ?

Cheers

Shandy

You may very well need kernel 2.6.14 or higher to work. SUSE 9.3 would do better with this config, HOWEVER, fake raid configs usually don't work with Linux well. You may have to make the drives show up as plain ole drives instead of RAID ... the software raid in Linux will likely be faster anyhow.

I don't have this laptop... can't guarantee that even SUSE 9.3 will work (have your local Linux User Group burn you a copy if you can't download it).
