I am so hoping that my problem is easly fixed using the adivice given in the above thread however I have had this laptop for a 11 months and not one problem have I had since, I researched before I purchased it when I recieved it I flashed it with new bios that day due to the reports I saw on the forum. This laptop has worked without issue I love this thing, Ok with that said here's where Im at now last night I had my laptop on A/C sitting on my desk and it was working fine I don't use it every day I was just working on a project otherwise I would just use my workstation anyhow last night left it sitting there with the screen saver on and when I got up this morning screen was black and fans were hummimg as normal. I figured it was in sleep mode so I depressed the power button for a couple seconds nothing happened? so I moved the mouse tapped the spacebar still nothing? Next I depressed the power switch untill it powered off unplugged the A/C cable I let it sit for a few minutes and powered it back on still nothing it sounds as if its booting I see a flicker on the screen but thats it?

I hope I;m not screwed.

Well its seems its dead Jim!! tried all the fixes no response and luckly I found my invoice I am still under a year so back it goes and I want it replaced not fixed, reason being is I never used it everyday once in a while like for projects or gaming and seeing how it was just sitting there and it went Kaaplewy I think I will take a replacement. I put a call into Sager seems they only like calling you back at their leisure second call and still no response. I brought it to work today to track them down and send it in. I will post as to their response for everyone.

Well it took 2 days to actually talk to someone at Sager And here is why:
I called their support line and you get a automated message that says leave your name and number type of problem and we will call you back Yeah right I waited a day and went to their site the next morning and filled out the call back form on thier website before I went to work leaving my work number as the call back number, Options they give you on the form for time window is 7:30am to 11:00am, Then when I got to work I called them again to expedite my call this was from the PCtorque number and he was able to tell me all they got at Sager was the online form I wasted a day waiting for them to call but atleast they have been notified. I recieved a call from them at 11:00am finally they waited untill the end of the window of time but they did call so I was greatful, I was given an RMA number and instructions to send it back. case in point don't call go to the website first. I was also told that you can't purchase an extension on your warranty unless you have atleast 180 days left on your factory warranty. So I did find a few third party warranty companies were I can get an extended warranty thank god. If anyone is interested in the third party warranty let me know and I will post it.

Thought I would add a little more info on my laptop extravagaza!! I find that there is no company out there that will sell you an extended warranty if you have less than 180 days on your 1 year or they say you must be within the 30 day purchase period of the laptop. Case in point if you didn't buy an extended warranty your screwed. Oh well new game plan when I get the laptop back it goes on ebay to be sold and in turn I will buy another laptop with an exteneded warranty. If I owned a Toshiba, Dell or Sony those companies will sell extended warranties for there laptops adjusted to how long you have owned it not that you have to be in the 30 day period of purchase or 180 days out from your one year warranty so Sager is a great laptop cause I loved mine right up to the end, but once my year is up then Im on my own. And I do know Sager is the bigger bang for the buck because I did shop around with that said I will have to reavaluate wether to purchase another Sager or go with a safer name brand.

Great to know.

Now you know why some of us really really like our laptops.

That's great to hear. Hopefully your machine stays running in prime condition for you.

Edit:
That's really weird. My post posted above the one I responded to. Looking at it, I'm guessing G's did, too.

Hi all,
Well Lappy is back and get this, Since I bought this thing I took it at face value of the way it performed ie.. It always took forever to connect to a wireless network now it snaps right on it, It now boots up quicker? I tested all my games on it including: UT2K4, BattleFront, Doom3 and these all seemed to work great DVD's play fine. I mean what a difference Im guessing they had to have replaced the whole MB seeing how they did not send me a print out of what was done? which would be nice, so I sent them an email requesting the maintenance report..
well I hope this is the conclusion of my Laptop extravaganza!!

Well my 1 year is up today I have had my laptop back for 4 days and now it has split second delays in movies, games and it does it dragging the mouse accross the screen I think folks call it (artifacting) guessing ARRRRG!! I even wiped my O/S to eliminate software as the cause then reinstalled a clean install it didn't help I am so pissed right now I have put them on notice to send it in for a warranty fix from the web form and Im calling to ask if we can trade it in for a newer version or swap it for another? something I don/t have time for this. OMG if anyone has found a way to return these for a newer version or swap out let me know.

Check the video drives and BIOS version to insure that they are both update to date and compatable with one another. Next - Insure that you are not using any sort of everclocking utilities. If you can obtain what the two clock speeds used by your video configuration (Core and Memory, I think). They may not be set correctly.

Staggering mouse and video is not normally called artifacting. That is usually used (or at least be me) to mean that the video is "blocky" or "pixulated" or really "maldefined".

When you reinstalled everything, did you install the drivers in the EXACT order that was spefied in the user's manual? Also, did you use the latest Video driver on the Sager site. The older video driver does not play well with the newer BIOS version.

Also, are you using MOBMETER and also using an MS Intellamouse. There have been issues between the two (or at least there were for me). I hade stalls and lockups that were illogical.

So...... step back a seconds, chill out, and then take a lok at thing. Do; however, contact Sager because you are on the "cusp" of the warranty period. Please be nice to them and they might respond "in kind".

Keep us posted.

If G's (or Sager's) suggestions don't get you back in running condition, one thing I personally would insist on is them paying for shipping this time seeing as they just had it and it should be working correctly.

Was the machine working fine when you first received it? You've had it 4 days- at what point in those 4 days did it start acting up? This'd be where I'd start looking for answers.

Your mouse dragging wouldn't be artifacting. Artifacting is when the picture on your screen goes bad. Colors might not show correctly, pixelated areas flash on and off all over the screen, etc.

Sager so far has been very responsive to my problem, They had me turn off my power saving features in the control panel and this seems to have helped alot as I havn't seen the problem return I am stll optimistic. Thanks G-OMAHA for the 411, FriedToast I bought a Warrentech ext warranty but they sent me the wrong one its for a laptop under $1000 haha I don't think so anyhow Im trying to get this resolved too hope its not to late.

I can't imagine it'd be too late since it was a mistake that wasn't on your end. I would think that PCT'd make things right in regards to the warranty.

Glad to see that they're getting things narrowed down for you.
