Fcuk that, if your gonna buy a dual core whatever, might as well buy a shitty laptop and build a badass desktop.

Hmmmm...don't mean to be rude, but you're kind of bugging people with the numerous posts/threads on this.

I personally would wait unless you HAVE to have a new computer NOW, like I did. I went ahead and ordered a 9300 cause I have to have one for classes I'm in, online programming courses. If I didn't, I would have totally waited. As it is, I plan on unloading the thing on some unsuspecting newb as soon as I can.

If dual-core comes out in 32-bit for the pentium-ms, that would suprise the hell out of me. With Vista right around the corner, I am tired of intel trying to squeeze every last upgrade dollar out of its customers. The Turion is going dual-core around the same time, and it's already x64, so intel would be quite stupid to try to pull off a x32 dual core as its flagship mobile chip IMO.

I would not pay too much for a hypersonic or alienware lappy either, btw. Dell really is owning the market atm with the XPS 2, and likely will to come because of their close ties to Intel and nVidea. The sager 9860 and alienware 7700 owned the roost for like 5 min there until the XPS 2 showed up, and everyone has been well and truly pwned for like 6 months now. That's quite a long time to hold the crown in this field, man, and I think Dell will keep an arm on it.

PS- he meant that dual-core desktops are readily available now. Check ibuypower.com, can get a nice amd dual core, either the 3800+ or the 4400+ for $1200-1700 depending on CPU and GPU in a nice antec case, dvd burner, 250gb 7200rpm hard drive with 16mb cache, enermax psu, and 3 year warranty all in there. You'd still need a monitor I guess, but for $2-2.5k, if you don't NEED a laptop, you get a whole lot more computer for your buck from a desktop system right now is what he meant.

In all honesty, it's really unclear has how the Clevo will act. AMD's run slightly cooler than Intel's in the desktop department. However, the Centrino has proven to muscle its way past the FX-55 (Desktop) in a lot of areas.

As far as laptop game performance goes, an enthusiast always wants to look at the graphics card first and foremost. After that comes the processor, and quite frankly, anything above and beyond a 2.0 Pentium M is good enough. SO if you really want to roll out $700 for a Clevo for approximately 6-7 more frames, then you my friend a) have a lot of money to spare, and b) really love computers.

To me, the Clevo D900K and XPS 2 are quite different machines, the D900K is much more of a DTR weighing in at a hefty 5.5kg, so if you're looking for a proper DTR with twin internal hard drives and optical drives etc. then the D900K will probably be a better choice.

The XPS 2 on the other hand still offers reasonable portability for its strong performance, even ignoring price I'd still go for my XPS 2 as the Clevo D900* machines are just too much DTR for me although I can easily appreciate for some people the D900* machines are a better choice.

All depends what your doing. For graphic intensive programs and if you NEVER leave the laptop unpluged, the FX-57. if you have the money, should rock.

BUT, I do love my Dell. You cannot beat it, 2 hours battery life (at max), and it powers though everything, adding a 7800 to that is like making a drug that combines everything together. A new Celeron processor is suppose to come out next year, but idk when, and how powerful it will be. Im hoping around 2.5 Ghz(think 4.2Ghz on desktop P4), and hopefully it will be the same pins that way I can ebay it . The Pentium M is a great little chip though, and can compete with the FX-57 at the now 2.0Ghz that I run, on a desktop with a 6800 Ultra.
