Serious 8890 overheating problems - Page 2

Here's a Screenshot of my overheated desktop

After giving the copper heatsink fins a thorough cleaning, and blowing any dust out of the fans with a high powered shot from canned air, I reapplied some arctic silver to my laptop. After that, I installed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and tried playing it. Ran the machine at 1024x768 @32 bit color, most settings maxxed...

Started to see some artifacting after about 15 minutes. After 20 minutes the entire screen artifacted and I was unable to see the game. After a CTRL-ALT-DEL and end task, my desktop looked like this (in yahoo pictures format... forgive me. I'm at work and don't have access to any hosting):

I would bet money you have a broken pixel pipeline. My desktop machine had a similar problem for quite a while until just 2 days ago it finally gave up and artifacts showed up within a few seconds in any 3d game I played. The images were different depending on the game, but the end result was always a corrupt image.
I sent a screenshot to ATI and am RMA'ing the card currently, waiting to get it back. I posted it to another forum and several replied with similar expierences.
For the longest time I would have sworn it was heat (I live in south texas, this began in the summer), but turned out it was a faulty card all along.

note that this was on a desktop machine, with a 9700. Also, I never had any actual 2D display problems (Except that the cursor was corrupt, which makes sense because this is rendered with hardware acceleration.)

Ok well. Guess it's time for that RMA then.
