Hi,need some help with a sager 5600D

i was working on my sager and all of a sudden it shuts down...
try to start,and leds come on,hear a very low beep, and it shut down...
while pluged in....plug and battery led are "on"
any help is apreciated...thanx

tried everything and nothing..took out heat sink cleaned (was clean any ,bo dust at all),seated heatsink with some heat grease....

.right know i will start her up...
and pull down properties on desktop to configuer power management to always on...and see what happens...

just started it up,and it seemed start reading memory and it shut down...
to me it seems like an over heating problem,but not sure...

I had the exact same prob with a 5600D.
Shutting down by itself, sometimes working for a sec, etc.
It turned out to be a faulty memory-dimm. After replacement everything worked fine. You should test your memory with memtest86 (do a google for it).
Its a small memtest prog that runs from floppy, don't need no o.s to run it.

I used memtest. But after 1 and a half hour some strange things started to appear on screen and it freezed. Does this mean i ve got bad Rams?

problem solved,it was the ac power adapter....
since i had to adapt one (i lost the original) and the voltage was too low
it woudn't stay on for much,just a couple of min....with 16 volts IBM adapter...
now changed it a 19v ACER adapter and it's working fine...

but it's suppose to work with a 19v to 20v 7amps...

That is a really really big omission when asking others for their opinion and assistance. It's not one of those things that anyone would think about being a cause.
