Good 3Dmark 05 Scores, Bad Gameplay (WoW)

My first time running 3Dmark 05 I got 5025. My system is a P4 3.4, 3GB ram, 6800go Ultra, 60GB 7200. Games, however, are running like crap. I get 20-30fps in WoW in 1600x1024 widescreen with settings on full. Is that normal or should I be seeing better?

What have other people been getting in WoW? I ran it in 1920x1200 also and still got about 20 fps

its your resolution that killing the fps id say, with that card full settings on games with 1600 or 1900 is a no no.

My 6800 go Ultra handles many games fine at 1920x1200.

It's poor coding on the games side man.

ya, but what games, and at what settings ? like farcry at there highest settings at 1920x1200 ?

cuz i did say the rez and settings on the game that was probably killing his fps or score.
me never just said that 1900 x yada yada is doing it, the game settings must be taken into account...

3dmark05 - 11000, boo ya sucka

20-30 in IF? Sounds a touch low

I can run on a desktop 6800 ultra (diff beast I know) on a 3.4 P4 and get 29 in IF, but in regular spaces and instances its more like 45-55. Oh and this is at 1920x1200 8AF but no AA.

Must just be WoW. I got more games running and they are absolutely beautiful. Battlefield 2 looks awesome. I'm loving it. Fixed all issues I was having, only problem I still run into is my system freezes during some installations. Never have any problems playing games though.

I can run farcry fine at 1920x1200. Actually using the matto 3 built in benchmark I scored an average 49.XX fps on VERY HIGH settings.

but you dont run farcry at its highest settings.... if you say you do run it at its highest settings and at that resolution and with that video card then you lie. cuz i cant even do that with a 3gig desktop with 2gb ram and a 6800gt oced to ultra speeds, i even have problems running it at highest settings at lower reolutions than you do with a amd 4400 2gb ram and 1 7800gtx, 2 it runs magic, so no way do i believe you if you say you run farcry at its highest settings at that resolution and its smooth....

am not flaming, but its just impossible to have farcry run at its highest settings AA/Af maxed, ultra high water etc and especially 1920x1200 and get a smooth game with your pc. i know your laptop is a good laptop, but its not that good, neither is your vid card.

when i say not good i mean for farcry, they are good, but just not for running farcry maxed at that resolution with all game settings maxed.

but you said your rez was 1920x1200 not 1600x1200 and AA is disabled, so you dont play it at its highest settings with 1920x1200 and max AA , you get max AF, but you havent even got AA turned on, so my point is proved. turn AA upto 8s and AF to 16 and your resolution to 1920x1200 ingame, then post your results.

so i dont really know why you posted -- cuz you said one thing and posted another, me = @ u

and why does, your first 2 sets of test on research have EXACTLY the same score, not even a 0.00000000000001 fps discrepency between both ? = impossible...

so solly, no matter what you post now, i aint never gonna believe it, but i will admit, your pc pwns mine

I think you are just trying to prove that your SLI system is the shit.

The last benches were using the HardwareOC timedemos, as you can see everything is set on ultra high, what more do you need to know?

I posted my matto 3 bench at 1920x1200, very high, 16x AF. Pretty damn good for a laptop.

Sorry I don't have two 6800go Ultras.
i not saying your laptop isnt good, i admit its a good lappy, but i disagree if you say you play farcry at 1920x1200 and every ingame setting on its highest with ultra high water and full AA and full AF with that laptop and video card and say you can have uber smooth game = not gonna happen, now the benches you posted are decent, but you have got the ultimate fps killer turned off, and its at a lower res than you claimed you played it at.

Yes i agree it is shithot scores for a laptop, but i am jus having trouble accepting that you play it with everything at its highest, tweaked in the config program for Fc and at 1920x1200 with full AA and full AF and can pwn 2 better desktops.... albeit one got 2 78s, but when sli turned off, even my pc cant really handle farcry at its best, at times it stutters or slows down to fuk.

your 49.fps is decent, but as i say, AA = biggest fps killer and its turned off, if you could get 49/50fps with aa = 8s then i will apologize for even doubting you.

I don't play any game with full anti-aliasing on. Why would I do that? I'll admit I don't play farcry with everything on high simply because it gets choppy in areas. But the Matto 3 bench was set to the highest (no AA) and I got 49fps, not to shabby.

Plus, does your desktop monitor support 1920x1200?

For this thread I was simply stating that his computer is not the problem for WoW, it's WoW itself that is causing poor performance.
nope my desktop dont support 1920x1200, it supports 2200x1600 and yes i do agree that your benches are shit leet for a laptop, and yes i do think its a cool laptop, dont get me wrong, i am not saying your hardware shite, but as i say i just couldnt accept that you got those benchies at 1920x1200 FC config program tweaked to highest and with full AA/AF, if you had i would of dumped these pcs and bought a dell instead. but yea, its a good pc and good benchies for a laptop and would probably put some desktops to shame.

as for Wow, i aint got a Fking clue as ive never played the game, so i cant comment on what it is like, your probably right, it maybe is f00ked software thats causing his problems....

peace.
Yeah, it's the game other users are posting that WoW runs like crap. Never played it but yeah... lol

Nice res btw

WoW runs fine here...

of course i run it at 1680x1050

It doesn't lag on me one bit.
WoW has alof of external factors though other than your normal pc... its got servers and ISP's and god knows what else that standard single player FPS which just rely on your hardware dont have to worry about...

i knowyou guys know that already.. but it could have something to do with your problems.. i mean server lag - hence game lag is a big problem in WoW
post #19 of 21
hey I have wow, I can run it on the 7700, but most of time i get video lag...but its not unbearable..>most of the time it happens when I am running somewhere... Guild Wars runs perfect, BF2 runs perfect. Although I wish I could turn AA on in BF2, that would be cool.
