nw8240 -- with Catalyst Mobility 5.9 -- work ?

As topic.
I dont know if FireGL V5000 works ok with Catalyst 5.9 although the inside .inf file includes an entry of "V5000".

Besides, what else should I install apart from Catalyst 5.9 ? (such as HYDRAVISION, Control Panel... are they necessary ?)

They will work, but they arent really necessary... I use the Omegadriver.net sets... You dont have to upgrade them unless your having problems really...

Sorry, cant get exactly what you mean.

As I am using nw8240 with FireGL V5000, I wonder if I wanna install Mobility Catalyst 5.9, how I should perform the installation step-by-step.

Anything need ot uninstall first ?
If no, simply install the Catalyst 5.9, and then anything else need to install after ?

I wont give you step by step directions because there are a lot of people that need help with more difficult things, and as i am about the only regular the in HP section, there are many people to help and my free time is limited.

I recommend uninstalling all the ATI stuff, and then get the sets from www.omegadrivers.net and install them, thats the most simplistic way... Im not sure why you want to upgrade, but if your not having problems i wouldnt mess with it... for all you know installing an update will do more harm than good...

Try using the DHmodtool to modify the setup configuration files to allow non-mobility Catalyst Releases to install on laptops.

I've successfully used this program to install Catalyst 5.10 drivers on a Mobility X300 equipped laptop.... dunno about the Mobility FireGL V5000 though, the readme file that is in the same directory as the tool says it does though.

He was talking about the "Catalyst Mobility 5.9" which already works on laptops with out modification... good information though...
