Heh, to tell you the truth I'm not worried about icon or text size. I find the default icons on a WSXGA 15.4" to be too small. I use the large icon option. And while I personally don't find the text small, almost everyone that uses my laptop finds the text fairly small. I'm sure 1440x900 wouldn't be bad at all on a 17" screen. Just people overreacting.
