Use their restore CD (which will also reinsteall bloatware) or download a copy of the XP you use (with SP2!) and use your own key to activate it.

The recovery CDs will do it.

If you want to quickly get partitions set up to save files, just find a copy of Partition Magic (Syantec owns the latest version) and create one that way. To burn your files all you need to do is basically create data CDs using your burner (if you have one) and add various files onto there. Note: installed applications are not going to be transferrable, just save your pictures, and non-program data.

But I have photoshop and all of those microsoft word programs. Am i going to have to reinsall those too?

If you reinstall Windows you lose all your programs. You will have to reinstall every program that you had previously.

If you have backup copies that shouldn't be a problem.

Don't reinstall Windows unless you're sure that's the only option.

But it still happens

Look up some forums related to the application and ask there.

DON'T reinstall Windows over an issue this small.

perform a system restore to the last day on the calendar that you remember it properly working.

I did a system restore but this is the first time i have used this program. I cant download the Windows movie maker because you can only download it with windows update and there is no uninstall thing next to the program.

so how do I fix this problem that says"Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close" this only appears once I import my videos

prehaps movie maker is too low end for what you a trying to do and is not compatible with the file you are attempting to use. try a real video editing app.
