its just a video from a camera. Can you recommend a free video editing program that might work for me?

Well, this is what happens with WIndows Movie Maker
I can import a video, but them when I put it in the timeline the message appears. I'm not doing any profesional editing so Windows would be fine but why is this keep happening.
If I delete the file it says deleting this file may make other programs not work. If I delete the file and then download it again. do you think i'll be okay?

You can remove it through Add/Remove Programs and then re-install it if you have your Windows CD... I suppose.

Windows Movie Maker? No wonder you are having problems! I'd suggest you get better software. Is your file AVI? Get VirtualDub then....
