high-res (wsxga) glossy screens?

Hi all,

I've been going crazy searching for the right laptop. Basically I *thought* I had it narrowed down to asus z71v or z70va, but then I realized the screens weren't the 'glossy' type.

So basically the only laptops I've found that are above-standard resolution and glossy are the fujitsu M4438G and the sony vaio (not sure exact model #). They are both 17" and are verrrry expensive!! I wouldn't mind the m4438g, in fact i would very much like it because its 17" but not too heavy. But I wasn't looking to spend 1,800 pounds (what is that, $3000 american?)

Are there no 15" screens that are glossy and wsxga?

Am i being stupid to be desperately searching for this? I do webdesign and will be doing code a lot..but the glossy screens just look so nice! Yet so do the high-res screens! Does anyone have experience where after a month they wished they didn't have the glossy screen? If it came down to it right now I would choose the glossy wxga over the non-glossy wsxga.

I guess right now my decision is between the portable asus w3v 14" or the nice glossy fujitsu's that are just standar-resolution...

thanks for any input!

I just bought this notebook today from future shop for cdn$ 2999+tax

and also check out my last night's post

I had benn a sony vaio user, and I love their screen so much, but they just don't have high resolution notebbok in Canada, so I am searching for new glossy screen notebook .
and today I went furtureshop, and I saw that LG notebbok, very thin, and very bright, just like my vaio, and very high resolution, 1680x1050, Fine Bright LCD WSXGA+, and the black on the screen is so black. and I would never buy non-glossy notebook.

and also there are some toshiba 15 and 17 inches notebook has very nice glossy screen too, you can also check them out, they do have great ratings on Cnet.com

The dell 9300/xps2 have 17" glossy screens and high resolution. Also HP sells quite a few...just check out the usual suspects

heyas,
thanks for replies. I had looked at HP but didnt see any high-res options. I'm sure they've got it, but from the HP's i've seen in stores I just didn't like their screens for some reason.

As for choices, I also found the new Asus w2v. Fuggin nice! $2,500 though, but when converting to Brittish pound, that ain't so bad.
The dell 9300 has intrigued me, I hadn't really looked at dell but with their coupons and customizing a system, I can get a good high-res 17" for under $2,000, which is pretty unbeatable.

And ya, I guess I should have been more exact and its wsxga for 15", wuxga for 17". But the Asus is just wsxga on 17"...which I think actually looks kinda nice cause everything isn't super-small and my girlfriend won't complain as much.

I still find it weird that there I can't find any 15" high-res glossy screens....but I think 17" is the way to go because I've seen the Asus w2v and Fujitsu m343 in person, and they're so light that they're barely bigger than a 15". And that Asus is built so beatifully.....I'm very tempted to go for it =)

ah well, we'll see how it goes. Thanks all

I personally dislike the glossy screens (screen protector), They have so much glare that offices with windows behind you or well too many places all you can see is the reflections.

I like 15.4" wide screen, not to small that it makes PS or code work too hard, but not so big that it wieghts 12 lbs either.
I have a acer 4005 and I love it, but no glossy screen.
