hERE IS THE new model of the 8510gz but how come i dont see any improvements? i was waiting for the ati 128mb or nvidia graphics card : ( hopefully the sound is improved because the 8510gz was terrible! If the sound was better i would have snatched it for 1199 last week at bb. But looks like i maybe have to order one of these at the gateway site with otto. I have one with the 6800 nvidia config. around 1800 with 3 year warranty + the 2.13 ghz processor... decisions decisions lol

Yeah, okay, I see it.

This is NOT a good deal...

It only has 64MB of dedicated VRAM and has the slower 4200RPM hard disk.

Yep...my 8510GZ has a 5400RPM hard drive...so it's faster than this newer rendition.

Gateway probably figures most people whom shop at best buy are computer illiterate.

They figure the general public might know what a hardrive is and that 100 gig is good (they wont list on the spec sheet that its 4200rpm and even if they did most people wouldnt know what it meant anyways).

Then they have the video card; see they can still use the cool x700 sticker on the laptop and the best buy employees can still say this is the best videocard we have here for laptops in the store.

So its all about saving the $ and those not informed; I'm not ragging on gateway persay. I mean hey its smart business practice to increase profits even at the expense of the consumer. Problem is it might piss off people whom are computer literate and hurt them in the long run

anyways thats pretty interesting to have the same computer with less specs but the same price; you would think they would have better specs.
