I still use my old Gateway Solo 9550 laptop but the battery won't hold a charge. Looking on Ebay, they are easy to find, but for 80 bucks or better plus shipping.
I also see on Ebay collections of three or so batteries selling for less than 8 bucks a piece, but they don't hold a charge. Apparently the internal circuitry won't allow the batteries to hold a charge once they can't retain a predetermined threshold. This can be because of one bad cell, as they are wired in series, I believe.
I think I would much rather spend 40 bucks on a pile of batteries that I could make two working units from than 110 bucks on just one fairly new one.
Does anyone know where I might find such wonderful recycling tutorials?
