I am compiling some data for everyone and seeing how well your laptop is performing for you.

rate from 5-1, 5 being very good reliablility, and 1 from worst reliability.

Also leave comments about ur particular laptop, Specs, and problems (if any).

Thanks,

Hopefully my vote counts even though I technically don't have a sager. I have to say, I used to think my laptop was a little unstable until I trashed windows. Best thing I ever did.

That's leaving it pretty loose. Each person's definition of "very good" and "worst" is going to be different. I think if you want some good data back from this, you're going to need to define what each level means. Maybe you could define each level in terms of total defects in a given amount of time, etc. I'm not saying it has to be scientific, but I wouldn't think you'd get anything useful out of such ratings.

It's your poll, but if you want useful information, I would suggest rethinking it.

I vote 3. I had an RMA when it was under warranty and I had an OS failure a few months ago. My subwoofer also broke and so did my primary headphone/speaker out (it still works but the plastic circle around it broke off). my battery is also nearly dead. good performance though.

After 3 weeks, my Sagers mobo died and I had to rma the whole thing back. Just 2 weeks ago, I found out that I DON'T have an Ultra card like I'm supposed to. Sager is now shipping me the proper video card.

Average reliability, if you ask me.

My 8790 is the first notebook computer I've ever owned, so I can only get a feel for its reliability be comapring it to desktops. Since every computer has its share of problems, I'd rate mine a 4. Bad HD which died 1 year after I bought it, and a broken headphone jack 6 after months. Otherwise it's been wonderful. All other problems have been software-related.

8790. Gave it a 2. Worked great for about the 1st 4 months after I bought it. Hasn't worked @ 100% since then.

Fantastic when it wasn't having any problems.

I have yet to have a problem of any kind (well, other than operator error )

I had a problem at first. The raid controller on the motherboard failed so I sent it back like around 7 days after I bought it. They replaced the motherboard and sent it back. Then about a month ago the GPU failed. So I sent it back and they sent me a new one. and its been running like a top ever since. I believe both problems were from the vid card overheating. Which appear to me to be gone now with the 77.70 driver and the H8 fan bios update. So I'll give it a 4 for now, barring any other problems I'd up it to 5.

Bought a Sager 8890-V back in Sept'03.
It runs 24/7 and has not missed a beat.
So impressed I bought a second 8890 to give my first one some company.
It too works flawlessly.

Like all things some designs work better than others.
The 88xx series seems to be one of the better designs imho.

I would buy another Sager.

My 9860 took three tries to get right at first, but since the final machine got to me, it runs like a champ. The built-in sound sucks, though, so I can only give it a 4.

I voted "4". Have had my 8790 for over a year and really have not had many problems. The IEEE1394 socket (on the front) took a dump and I am beginning (OK, Two times) to experience some artifacting. All in all a very good machine so far.
