I am compiling some data for everyone and seeing how well your laptop is performing for you.

rate from 5-1, 5 being very good reliablility, and 1 from worst reliability.

Also leave comments about ur particular laptop, Specs, and problems (if any).

Thanks,

There are a lot of bad things being said about emachines, but this is my first laptop and it has been great so far. I had the cracked hinges but I fix them and you can't even tell. It runs smooth without a hitch...Play unreal 2004 at the highest settings and runs flawless.

mine's been awesome. I had to RMA it early on because the video card had bad RAM (lol that's my curse for buying from the online site instead of waiting until they came in stock at a store, since they went on sale the week after I bought it ), been rock solid ever since.

Been working like a charm. Not one issue with my GW

I bought my m6811 refurbished. RMA'ed once for cracked hinges, no other problems to report.

M6811

My m6809 had cracked hinges, devo'd for a 6811. My 6811 got cracked hinges, screen flicker, cd/dvd audio popping (cd/dvd head scratched).

Took back to best buy to fix all above, came back with a vertical blue/red line on the right side of the screen. Have to give it back to best buy again, but first take out the 2gbs ram.

My m2352 has been flawless

My lappy, now M6811 upgraded from M6809 has been great! I had the hinge problem and finiky dvd/r drive but a solid 4. Now my T3265 has been Flawless!

I only put a 4 because both of my hinges began to crack on my 7405GX. I was aware of the issue prior to buying, but other than that, no issues whatsoever.

I had to put a 2 so far because my M6805 is at Gateway/eMachines again for hinge problem. The last time it was just loose and cracked, this time is was loose and flickers. I wish that they would just replace the laptop with something better because I will probably get mine back with the same problem or a new one. If you can't tell, I am a little frustrated with eMachines.

My 6805 had cracked hinges and after 1 year developed LCD flicker. Seeing how it's out of warranty I'll have to repair it myself.

So far I have had to get the hinges fixed and now my video card needed replaced too. The PC is only a year and a half old. The aggravating thing is that it will take over a month to get the video card fixed by emachines. Oh well.

6809, So Far, So Good...

... knock on wood.

I had to RMA it early on for the hinges, then fixed them again on my own. That's really cosmetic... The only real problem I've had is that one of the USB ports on the rear of the machine stopped working, but it was after the warranty expired, and I have 3 others.

I've had no problem with my battery, screen or light leakage. This is a great machine.

Bought my 7508GX almost 4 weeks ago and it's been very solid and reliable. I use it daily for work 8am-5pm and then I'm on it for several hours after getting home. It's eleventy billion times better than IBM Thinkpad X31 I received from work (I'm desktop support so I can use whatever I want ).

The best part is that Best Buy originally sent my computer to emachines but they messed up the serial number when then sent it in. Emachines gets it and sends it back unfixed due to Best Buys mistake. That little bit of Best Buy idiocy made the turn around time another week. Nice work Best Buy.

bah i saw that a lot when i was still working there. one time i got 3 calls from a person (the owner, her father, and her husband) all checking status because best buy told them to call emachines, calls over a week or so period, and Best Buy hadn't even shipped it in yet until 2 weeks after she dropped it off with them

I didn't vote because the Gateway I own is a desktop (a 310), but it has been rock solid since I bought it a year and a half ago. So are the 18 inch LCD monitor, and the 2.1 speaker system, which I added a few months later.

I had to vote 1 because my laptop is currently in transit from the repair facility in Richmond Hill, Ontatio to my house.

This is the third major repair. The first time they replaced the motherboard. The second time the replaced the motherboard again, as well as the Wireless card, Battery and Power Brick. The third time they replaced the LCD and Modem (the modem didnt work after recieving it back the second time)

So yeah... I am never going to buy another Gateway/Emachines product again.

I'm on the same boat. Mine has been in twice because of the vram going corrupt. It's now looking like it may be happening within a few months again.
