I am compiling some data for everyone and seeing how well your laptop is performing for you.

rate from 5-1, 5 being very good reliablility, and 1 from worst reliability.

Also leave comments about ur particular laptop, Specs, and problems (if any).

Thanks,

I think thinkpads are a pretty good notebook, but I have had terrible issues with mine. My t41p has had numerous issues - screen died on me, had a replaced motherboard, the replaced motherboard wouldnt charge a battery, replaced the motherboard again, couldnt install any propriatery ibm software e.g. easy updater

If it were from 1 to 10 I would have given it a 9, now I had to give it a 4. Actually I am on my 3rd thinkpad now. 2 years ago just a month after the warranty expired on my A31 the motherboard smoked and needed to be replaced. It was a really hot summer and the P4 got even hotter. Anyway even being outside of warranty IBM's service was so great in giving me the new motherboard for free and I only had to pay the work hours for replacing the mb.
But all in all I never had any other problems since.

For the last year and a half, my T41 has been flawless, but then so has my Gateway 310 (admittedly, a desktop) which I bought at the same time.

I've had quite a few IBM laptops at home and everyone at my work uses an IBM laptop. They've been pretty reliable, my mom's t21 smoked a few months ago, the bios got corrupted because the notebook was started when the battery was dead and the notebook was not plugged in. My coworker's t21 is starting to die too......screen is turning red and the cmos battery is pretty much gone. Other than that, they've been pretty good.

I am very pleased with my purchase. My thinkpad has served me well and my laptop purchase will undoubtedly be another htinkpad. I've had my t30 for about six months now and I've only had a single problem with the unit itself. Every now and then, a pixel turns white. It's not dead or anything and goes away after a restart but it is a little annoying. Some of my friends with laptops were reporting dead pixels within a month of purchase. Has anyone had the same problem with a temporary pixel problem?
