Asus z70va vs Sager 5320 (Clevo m560a)

Seems like the real difference is the vram. Will the extra 128 of vram make a difference? Is it worth waiting a month for the Sager? Thanks for the opinions.

Asus z70va
15.4" WSXGA
Intel Sonoma Platform Up To Pentium M 2.13ghz Centrino
ATI Radeon X700 PCIe 128mb Vram

Sager 5320
15.4" WSXGA
Pentium M 2.0GHZ (2.1GHZ option)
ATI X700 256MB
The extra ram is useless, one cuz unless u play at astronomical resolutions, two because the x700 is not fast enough to actually make full use of the extra mem.

It will come up in benchmarking, but who really cares right?
The 5320 has ALOT of awesome features outside from core specs - built in tv tuner modular optical bay (2nd battery option) external media, design ETC.

IF your going to be spending $1500-2500 on a laptop, IMO its worth the time to consider all of the aspects, rather than brute performance hardware.
Doesn't the Z70va have an extra battery option also?
Hm, your right, it may. I was quick to say it doesnt, but now that you mention it, i may recall reading it does ><. By hey, the 5320 still has external media buttons!

Thanks for the input guys. Is the tuner included on the 5320 or is it an option? On pctorque.com they list it as an option.

So am I correct in assuming that if I'm just a casual gamer (mostly RTS and RPG,) then the extra 128 megs of vram will not matter?

Thanks again.
it matters, but your not going to see a huge difference, but if you play half life 2 then yea cause im sure you want that eye candy and the 256 mb of ram helps at high resolution, witch is where i play all of my games on highest res.

I'm so confused now. Sager has this one....Now I'm torn between sager and asus again.

If you want something sturdy, the asus one is made of a better material.
I'm stuck with the same dillema. I think the sager is better cuz it has everything the asus have. I don't know about sturdy but perfomance wise, its better.Costs more too. For now, I would go with the sager for a little bit more of the cost. Who agrees with me?
I was considering the 3880v, but now I am going in the 5320 direction. I will probably be ordering the 5320 in the next 2 months. I really don't have anything against the Asus, other than I read that they underclock the video cards. It has taken nearly 6 months of comparing this laptop to that laptop and I have to say that the Sagers keep coming up higher in the pro's than the con's.
Well, the Sager will be more a little more powerful, (video card is clocked higher I believe) but it is about 1 lb heavier than the ASUS. IMO the ASUS looks more stylish, but the Sager is a nice looking laptop too. If it were up to me, I would be getting the Z70VA because:

1) Carbon Fiber chasis, ASUS build quality
2) Looks nice
3) Probably the lightest in it's size class

But then again if you want DVI or a built in TV tuner, the Sager would be your option.
yea, the asus is lighter and looks sweet. But the sager is not bad. Other than weight, I don't think the sager has anything else less than the asus. I had the toshiba av501 and got rid of it after awhile (too heavy). It has tv tuner w/ instant media thing but I didn't really play around wit it too much so I don't know how useful it is. Anyone wanna give opinion?

I still go for the sager by the way.
I'm also undecided between these two notebooks. The DVI output (I would eventually like to use it with an HDTV monitor) and TV Tuner really appeal to me with the Sager but I love the look of the Asus and the possibility of overclocking the CPU and just maybe the X700.
So which has the best warranty? I have never been impressed with Asus support but have no experience with Sager resellers.
I will be using it for FPS's and Age of Empires 3 and watching DVD's and of course the Internet - will I benefit from the WUXGA LCD at about $50 more?
Last question for now, how easy is it to overclock the Asus Z70va as I don't think there are any dip switches? Thanks!

The sager also have the built in camera. Thats a plus. Btw, does both of them have the glossy finished screens? I never get to personally see these units so I don't know. I assume their battery life is the same if not the asus is not a little better.

The ASUS z70va has a matte screen

The Sager is over 1.5lbs heavier than the Asus, which is quite substantial. I would say go for the Asus unless you can make use of all the extras in the Sager because the weight difference can be quite punishing (if u move your lappy that is).
