How do I make the screen stay on when I close the lid on my I6000

I searched, and I searched, and the server keeps disconnecting (crappy work servers). All I need to know is how to make the screen stay on when I close the lid. I plan on using my lappy as navigation in my truck, and running the video from the s-video out to my in-dash monitors. I have already changed the advanced power settings in windows xp so that it doesn't go into standby or hibernate when the lid closes, now I just need to solve the screen issue and I am golden.

Help a newb out....

Right Click on Desktop > Properties > Screen Saver Tab > Click Power button > Set Turn off monitor to Never.

I'm sorry that's incorrect, but thank you for playing! That is a
screen setting and has nothing to do with the lid closing issue. Anyone else...

When I say I am a newb, I mean newb to notebooks only

If you're going to plug it into the screen in your truck, why would you need the screen on while the lid is closed?

I haven't played with it, but I was under the impression that if the screen on the lappy went off, that there would be no signal from the s-video either. (can't remember where I read that)

dont think the signal will go out...only the signal to the lappy screen should go out

the Svideo will still work with lid closed..

start, settings, control panel, power options, advanced. Set 'when I close the lid of my portable computer' to 'do nothing'

The video-out signal will not go away if the screen goes off. You will have to configure it in the display properties, though, so that it will send a signal out. If you configure the display properties correctly, you can close the laptop and just use the screen in your truck.

Freak4dell, you are right, the signal comes out with the screen closed, all is well. Everyone else, read the question i had already done all that. THanks again Freak4dell.

You're welcome.

Closing the lid only turns off the backlight for the screen! It doesent even turn off the pixels, so the screen is still technically "on" just not lit up (unless you have windows set to do other things)
