The video card is the right fan vents.... so you'd be thinking of the left fan vents for the CPU.

This fix worked for my buzz.

Its just scary because now task manager says I am always at 100% CPU use.

Me too...but my CPU temp seems to tell me different...my CPU is running rather cool.

It will do, as RMClockHLT.exe runs to take up spare processing time the system is no longer seen as idle...

This fixed the buzzing noise on my M140, but now my fan is always on.

EDIT: Well, not always on, but on more often. & It's telling me that I'm running at 798 Mhz instead of 1.78 Ghz?

any performance issues using this?

Only if this soultion worked on a E1705. Until then, I will have to live with the buzzing sound.

is this something Dell techs should fix? Im already sending my laptop in to them.. should I notify them of this or does this happen for all laptops?

Also, Ive noticed that using Notebook hardware control in Max Perf. mode gives me the whining noise, while when I change it to Max Battery mode (reduces clock to ~800 from 2k) the whining stops.

its the cpu and caps etc... on the Laptop. My new XPS M170 has the issue a bit. Its pretty damn annoying too, but what are you gonna do.

That was Version 1.8. They've changed the layout of things in the new 2.05. The features are still the same but it is now found under "Management and Profiles"

NOTE: Plugging in a USB thumbdrive also will do the trick.

The thread was started 09-26-2005. A newer version has probably came out by now.

Yeah, I'm not sure if this works for Duo Cores. I've only tested it with Dothans. Perhaps you might need to run two instances of it? *Shrugs* Try attaching a USB drive of some sort (thumbdrive or something)

the program works fine on the e1705. But its not an acceptable solution to me...

I have called dell, and they have shipped me a dhl box to return the computer to them for checkup
