Headset not working on z70va

Thread Starter
I recently purchased the z70va and after installing the drivers everything seemed to be working fine

recently while trying to talk over skype (internet voice chatting), i found that the built in mic on my laptop worked fine but when i plugged in an external headset, the other person would be unable to hear me

i tried changing devices in control panel but it only has an option for "realtek audio" or something of the sort

i would think when plugging in a mic, that it would automatically override the laptop mic but it just causes both to not work, can any one help?

thank you

Have you tried updating the audio drivers?? I ask because I had a really strange issue w/ my z71v where I could plug in headphones fine and listen to music, but the second I plugged in external speakers, everything would cut out and stop. Updating the drivers fixed whatever problem I was having at the time.

try a different mic or enabling the mic in audio menu. It comes disabled by default.

Sound and audio--> volume ---> advanced --> options
Then you need to enable the mic under playback and recording. Thats how it works on mine

Did you try the integrated mic thats already embeded in the laptop?

yep as stated in my first post the integrated mic works fine

the only problem is i would much prefer a headset mic as i have a high quality that has sound cacelling while the embedded mic picks up everything in the backround

and the fact that im not always near my laptop i would like something that sounds more constent

thx for the help, any other suggestions?

well the embedded mic works for everything

the external headset i plugged in stops the embedded mic and no sound is able to come in for anything games, internet telephone, voice recording, etc

ive contacted my reseller about this and they said they just fowarded it to asus

Ext mic works fine on my laptop. I would say contacting asus is not a bad idea.
