Hardrive

I am looking into buying a Asus z70v or Asus z70va with the following specs.

P-M 1.85Ghz
1 GB RAM
DVD-rom (maybe dvd-rw?)

I was wondering if the difference in performance between a 60GB 5400 hard drive and a 60 GB 7200 hard drive is substantial enough to spend the extra money on.

Cheers.

Get the most you can afford. I had a 5400rpm 80gig hard drive in my CompaqX1000. I bought a Dell 9300 with a 7200rpm Hitachi drive. I can't tell a difference, but I do not game much. Everything else with the two drives is not noticable.

If you do any video recording at all you will notice a huge differnce, as a matter of fact I can notice a difference when doing long audio recordings.

Beyond that, you might load a game faster by a few seconds. But seconds turn to minutes, that turns to hours, that turn to days, that turn to weeks.... it will add up over time, you just might notice it as it happens.

The computer would be used for gaming, word processing and ocassional programming/photoshop.

Another question I would like to add...does anyone know where to find benchmarks for the x600 64mb vga found in the Z70v. I can't seem to find any. Would this video card be adequate for the above computer tasks. The games I usually run are counter-strike, althouhg I am looking into Doom 3.

Cheers
