any news podge on timeframe etc?

dogg... hows yours now that it is back... i was gaming on mine last night for the first time in 2 weeks and was paranoid at every little sound it made or smell in the air thinking the mainboard might have fried...
its going well pants, its you, me & podge as far as i know that got them all around the same time............ & 2 of us have sent them back, i won`t say which 2, you might get paranoid. She seems more solid for some reason this time & i know the feeling every time you turn it on thinking something may happen, i hope yours hangs in cause i`ll feel better. I did mention bf2 freezing after 5 mins when i had the 78.11 drivers, talk about shit me. I took a chance & d/loaded the 81.94 drivers & shes sweet , played bf2 for over an hour & half last night, was stoked. Thats why i bought an alienware laptop...... so so far so good. its a pity we cant access the U S site for tech supp. I hav`nt d/loaded any other stuff, rang alienware & told them, they were cool... didnt void anything cheers
P. S. pants, its seems the 1st sign of a prob is the battery starts playing up..... power pack light stays on, etc

lol i know, i know

im hoping that is has to do with machine treatment....

basically im hoping u2 didnt treat it right and i do hehe

but i think it is a general hardware fault with that revision/batch of motherboard... meaning we all got them at the same time... we all prob have the same motherboard... meaning my probably carries the fault too....

Fingers crossed, only time will tell however i just hope if it needs to die on me it doesnt happen over the holidays... thats when i plan to use it most LOL

Hey off topic... but do any of you Aussie users play City of Heroes/Villians?
nope , bf2, fear, cod2, Americas army..........& i treated my laptop so well my wife started bagging me about it... as in ...OH look at his little baby... etc
What screen resolution you guys use for the desktop, i`m 116? x 86?

nah i use 1650x1080 (native) if i can.... if the game is to demanding i drop to like 1280x1024 (i think thats it)....

I try for all the bells and whistles first then lower my standards... kinda like when im at the pub on the prowl lol

*you would think by now i would just set the standards lower as a norm lol*

kinda like the pub....LOL

Well i got good news guys, they called today, they reformating everything and sending it back before Christmas, apparently it was the motherboard that screwed up.

OMG just had the lappy sitting idley while i was making dinner... i came back to it and it was sorta not responding.... windows was frozen but i still had the mouse....

i restarted the machine and it booted up with these weird lines going down the screen then hit a big blue screen.

Turned it off straight away... seeing as lines were there during bios it means the issue was hardware.... i cooled it down for 20 minutes of inactivity then opened her up to make sure everything looked (and felt) ok....

seemed too be... I put her back together and sat her down to rest and cool down further while i went to retrieve the charred chicken i had left in the oven (hey its worth a burnt dinner to take care of my AW)...

jus tturned her back on and thank everyone... its working ok....

Can only assume heat was the issue... ive propt it up on higher stands... and well... fingers crossed....

ever had this before guys?

I've had a similar issue with my Area51 desktop - the odd lilnes running though the screen at start-up. I think it was just a loose vid card as I reseaeted the card and it went away. Maybe something is a little loose or if it does get hot something is coming loose? If it happens again you might want to try reseating the vid card. Not sure how easy it is on a lappy though.

thanks cancer..

figured it was the vid card and had a bit of a play with it when i opened up the box. I figured heat... but seating of the vid card is probably a very likely scenario..

I will keep an eye on this and let you all know (it seemed to be fine for the remaining of last night thought, 2 or 3 hours)

OMG, not you 2 pants........... you buy an alienware laptop & spend the rest of your life walking on egg shells every time you turn it on.
.....sometimes i get scared to open up Notebook Forums, its like the news..1 catastrophe after another. I`m glad that we can talk to each other about it, makes it feel like somebody cares..... mine has`nt done that yet
