Well, it looks like I was wrong again!
nVidias new 7800Go GTX is NOT on the 110nm transistor size process, but instead on the 90nm instead. This would certainly explain how they were able to keep the TDP under control while pushing the performance much higher.
Mobile nVidia 7800 is "Go"

There are two main reasons why nVidia has been so successful is transferring its blistering desktop performance to the mobile market. Firstly, the “Go 7800 GTX” is fabricated using the smaller and more energy efficient 90 nanometre process (desktop parts were made using 110nm). Secondly – and this is particularly cool – nVidia now designs its cutting edge graphics solutions initially for the mobile part and then transposes it to the desktop. Yeah, clever and ballsy.
I have to hand it to nVidia. Everyone thought, due to ATi's difficulties when tranferring to 90nm, that nVidia was going to hold off for awhile, but apparently they didn't & have just gone down a shrink & didn't tell too many people about it. This also indicates a shift of focus on nVidia's part now that notebooks are selling more than desktops: newer tech going to notebooks instead.
