The other day I decided to update the software on my Dell Laptop. I ran microsoft update to look and see if there were any updates for microsoft products installed on my computer. This was the first time I had ever used this. I usually just ran windows update to update the OS. Anyway, Microsoft update found a service pack (SP3) for MS Office as well as some other miscellaneous stuff. I downloaded them and everything was going fine untill the MS Office update tried to install and prompted me to insert my Office cd which I realize I no longer have near me (its back at home over 150 miles away). I simply just skipped the installation for office and kept installing the rest of the updates thinking that everything was fine. Now when I try to use components of microsoft office (excel, word, powerpoint etc.) I get prompted to insert the disk. I dont know what to do now. I use this program daily for assignments since I am an engineering major. Id hate to think that I would have to drive home or have my parents ship the disk just to be able to use it. My question is whether or not there is anyway to get rid of an update that didnt even install or at least get my computer back to the way it was before? I can not find the update in the "add remove programs list" because it was not installed. I even spent about an hour searching through files looking for the update but I cant find it. If anyone can lend any help it would be greatly appreciated.
