I am trying to install the ATI Catalyst drivers for my i6000d, but it fails to complete the setup, stating that I need to enable the standard vga driver... how do I do this??? (i have tried it in safe mode and in enable vga mode)

Thanks in advance for any help

Cannot install drivers in Safe mode. You must use Dell Drivers or notebook certified drivers when install ATI catalyst drivers. Considering the nature of the x300 download the dell drivers and install those first before you update into the more updated catalyst drivers.

The Dell drivers suck IMO. They are underclocked and all that junk. If you want to use the official Catalyst drivers from ATI, you can download them from their site and use this tool to mod some of the files so it will work on notebooks. Or you can get the mobility catalyst drivers from ATI as well. New ones were just released a short time ago, and now include support for the x300. You might want to check out omegas drivers as well. Those dont need any editing to get them to work on a notebook.

Very Good Site:
Driverheaven

You should check that site out and read up on some stuff. Lots of good stuff there.

Another good site:
Guru3d

And if you use the official drivers from ATI and they are not the mobility ones, you will need this tool.
Mobility Modder

And before you install new drivers you should completely remove all the ones that you currently have installed. Even if you think you have gotten rid of them, there may still be some files layin around. So you should use this tool:
DriverCleaner

Before you use Drivercleaner, MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL THE README STUFF. There are very good instructions that you NEED to follow. So I hope this helps.
