5680 hard drive problems

Hi

Few weeks ago my laptop displayed a message that SMART monitoring system predicts imminent HD failure. HD did fail indeed, so I've replaced it reinstalled the OS and after few days the same messsage appeared again. So far the laptop works although it boots terribly slow and HD sounds a little bit strange, but otherwise everything is fine. I didn't try any resource heavy gaming yet so I'm not sure if its just a minor annoyance or a serious problem. I was wondering if flashing the BIOS would help. Please help.

I've tried flashing BIOS but it doesn't work. I'm thinking about replacing the mobo and upgrading 5680 to 5690. Are there any parts I need except the mobo and HDD converter board. Are the cases compatible? I know I have to contact Golden Star UK for parts but I don't know their numbers. Could someone help?

THe upgrade requires a new power brick, bottom case, heatsink assembly, and of course mobo. I doubt it is a mobo, I'd try another drive.

What are the stats of the old hard drive (the one that failed)? Are the stats of the new hard drive identical? Is the new one a brand new drive?
