Have any of yall played this demo yet, this is the best looking game I have ever seen! And it plays wonderfully on the Xps2 !! I finally have a computer that can play all the cool games! I am definitley going to buy this game on October 25th!! What does everyone else think?

U know I was trying to download it last 3 days ago.. unfortunately my download is corrupted.

Its ok, nice graphics, but alittle too noob friendly. I also cant play it at acceptable framerates at 1920x1200. I prefer DOD source, for infantry combat.

Plays great on my XPS2, had no skipping or anything at 1024x768 with the candy maxed out. Can't wait for the release.

COD2 is going to be my next 2 years of online play. COD1 has been for the past 3 years. And man the dmeo runs oh so sweet on my new desktop.

GB,
If you were as old as I am you would probably be happy to play anything at that resolution. I still need my reading glasses to see the screen clearly. But I wouldn't judge anyone either if I didn't know all the facts first....

Does DoD Source have a solid and engaging single player game? Good AI? I prefer private multiplayer games with just one or two other people who realy know what they're doing. (I play Ghost Recon on the net all the time with a buddy who's ex-Danish special forces.) Otherwise, online gaming too often turns into a free for all and it drives me nuts. :-(

So I really appreciate a good single-player game.

Well at least play it on a widescreen resolution

The problem with single player games is there is no such thing as good AI. Like you said, you just need to find a server with people who know what there doing, and if you can, a DOD match is far more exciting than any heavily scripted seen from CoD

I do okay at any resolution if I choose to, it just looks better at lower settings for me. I enjoy my XPS2 and can and do play games at highest settings whenever. I also could switch to my XPS desktop with my 30" Dell monitor and play it on a big screen if I so choose, its right next to me. My laptop is in wide screen at the moment but its all in how I enjoy playing my games that counts. Nough said...

I ment go to a low wide screen resolution like 1280x720. In normal 4:3 resolution on a widescreen the game will be streched and slightly distorted to fit the screen.

Valid points, but still, does it have a single player mode?

Force DX7 in the options and the game looks just as good but runs at 80+fps.

I do, always have. It's a force of habit.

Plus, I prefer having good framerate as opposed to playing at 1900x1200 where my opponents are the size of gnats and I can't see anything cuz my framerate blows at max rez etc.

I doesnt make things smaller, it makes things sharper, and i get perfectly playable framerates at max rez, its the point of buying an expensive gaming computer

I was playing it at 1680x1050 with everything maxxed out, and my XPS slowed down here and there, ESPECIALLY when smoke was involved... Though I am betting when the 80-series of drivers comes out with the promised +20% speed increase, it will run fine. Awesome game! I can't wait for it! -JB

(EDIT: Also, I used some forced settings with RivaTuner to use 16x Ansiotropic Filtering and highest quality I could - Antialiasing slows the game down too much, so I had to disable it.)

Thats like saying I hated lord of the rings because there were no aliens raining fiery death from there ships. Lord of the rings is a fantasy movie, not sci fi. Just as DoD is a multiplayer game, not a single player adventure.

You wanna switch your magical laptop with mine. I do not get acceptable framerates when there's smoke, excessive action all at one time etc.
