Guys,

Tell me if I screwed up majorly.

I went to unlock the keyboard ribbon and both of the small black pins actually came off. Are they supposed to stay in place? or did I screw up?

Worst case, if you did mess it up.... a very small amount of hot glue.... a tiny tiny tiny drop.... on both ends where it plugs in to the MB should keep it in place if it is loose. Plug it in, place the drop where they meet and you should be OK.

I've seem this done by a few places and it works and is easy to remove.

Last time I saw this was a place that made shuttle systems for LAN parties, they hot glued every single connection, even the memory, used a bit more than I would, but it kept everything connected even with all the transportation the systems got.

EDIT: I would not use the gun near the laptop, use a wood toothpick to place the drop. This will also allow the glue to cool a little before placed.
